At least Luiz and Zinchencko were only expensive loans who could be bombed out after contributing absolutely nothing.

Sounds great and unlikely but I’d steer well clear of players on huge salaries and long contracts personally (especially those who are likely to be well into their 30s when the contract ends and will have little or no resale value).

Ffs, this might be the most short narrow sighted take I’ve seen on this forum .

Player from AC signed by Pep for ~50m but city fans who had Rodri, Silva, Foden, cherki, Gonzalez, don’t rate him highly so that means we should stay clear of.

Apart from when Hennessey,Storey-Moore,McKenzie,Woodcock,Davenport,Webb,Clough,Keane,Collymore.
Bohinen,Campbell,Jenas,Dawson,Reid and Anderson were likely to leave Forest.

They’ve seen more of him than any of us have.
The fact that their opinions are almost unanimously negative is a little alarming. Their opinions on Mcatee have proven to be pretty much spot-on so far in what he’s shown for us. I hope he proves them wrong this season.
I know that just because a player fails elsewhere doesn’t means he’ll fail for us but their comments sound similar to the failings we’ve seen in Mcatee and worry me.

Err... no they haven't

Although I'm not sure where he fits in Glasner's preferred system he'd be a quality addition.

With Marinakis, I think it's inevitable that we'll end up pushing the boat out for these players soon enough, I just hope that we do our due diligence and end up signing the right ones.

The encouraging thing is at least we seem to be handing a good transfer kitty to a good manager and not one that which we've rushed in on the back of having to fire fight.

I really hope though that we do manage to bring some academy players through soon though, and focus serious efforts there, because we can't rely on buying players with massive wages forever.

He definitely hasn't failed at city. He's put in some top performances, the city fans I know rate him. He can't pin down a starting place, but look who's ahead of him
 
He will be taking a pay cut, but if he plays often (which would be the case) he'd make some of that up in bonuses, appearance fees and whatnot. And if he is going to be utilzed in a way that suits him, the pay cut might not bother him. 150K+ a week is still an awful lot of money, and I think he'd be worth every penny.
 
Do love it, but also do assume it's posturing/positioning from other parties unfortunately. Hope I'm wrong.
 
Going on what a Milan-supporting mate said, and just from looking at his profile, I don’t think he’s an Anderson replacement. Which is fine, cos we can’t replace him and probably have to look at a different way of playing.
 
I've seen people balking at it about the financials and his age, but this one quite excites me.
Sometimes you're fortunate enough to strike gold when you're mining and sometimes you have to invest monetarily in gold. We were the beneficiaries with Anderson, massively but if you want to buy quality now, the starting rate for even a decent midfielder now is like £40m.

I feel like there is a lot to like about Reijnders. The first thing that jumps out at me, is that he is interested in coming here for first team football. He's got 4 years left on his deal at City, how many players do you think in his situation would just say f*** it and sit on the bench at City collecting a packet?

While it's fair to say he didn't capture lightning in a bottle at City, he still played 28 times in the league for them last year and it's City, Pep has very high standards and their midfield depth is substantial and with it being his first season in English football, I think he did okay.

While he doesn't win the ball back as much as Anderson did, the gravy with Reijnders is that he's box to box and can play balls into dangerous areas. He's very good at keeping the ball as well, which for a team like us would be critical. He can also play as a 6, an 8 or a 10.

It would be a statement of intent, for sure.

Yeah I have to agree, saw more of him at Milan than City but from what I saw he is real quality, definitely the step up I'd like to see (and unfortunately that comes with a cost )
 
I thought he was absolutely outstanding in the first half of the season. Like City's best player by some distance.

Granted didn't see much of the second half of the season due to family circumstances but I'm surprised he's even available for transfer let alone seeing some of the comments from City fans. What went wrong?
