I'm still here Crewton
I suppose if it was a Castle Rock it would need to be something like Our House at 3.4%.
Can't see them putting Screach on.

Iirc, the owner of a brewery that used to be extremely close to the CG offered to bring beer, stand it, sell it, take back whatever wasn't sold to the pub very near the CGz stand it and then sell it there.

Club said no
If i remember, the club signed a beer supply agreement with Greedy King. These agreements don't allow for anyone else's beers being anywhere near the ground. I was told that their rep walked into the toilets, saw posters for Great Northern Inns (who owned The Navigation brewery) and made the club remove them all.

Keg? No thanks. And as for that craft nonsense........hazy hopsoup beers have no place in modern society and need binning totally.

The point is that whether your beer, your wine or your gin is good, bad or indifferent, there needs to be somewhere to drink it where you are not in someone else's way. The concourses for the "ordinary" supporter are hopeless (as they are at most UK grounds) and I worry about the apparent preoccupation with the corporate facilities. Sure, income generation and 'added value' is what we need to do, but the "ordinary" fan deserves much more respect.

I have my pre match and half time warm, flat, pissy Carling in the same spot half way between the middle and A Block area of the Peter Taylor concourse where there’s a little area next to the womans toilets and underneath some ugly silver tubes with wire coverings. It’s hardly drinking in Covent Garden so I doubt we’ll be getting Peroni anytime soon.

We entered the ground early for the Chelsea game, for a younger fan. Got ourselves a drink and stood on a plain boring concrete concourse. I said at the time, there was nothing to entice me back, I'll stick to the Trent Nav or TBI.

The plain concrete concourse at football, how DARE they! I mean, everyone else has marble, and we get concrete!.

When I did my Tour of the Grounds, I arrived in Blackburn the night before the game, so I thought I'd go and have a look at the ground. I found a bar open in one of the stands, apparently open regularly in the evening to all. Very nice it was too.

Perhaps the CG isn't situated in the right place to have a regular bar situated in one of the stands, but it seemed a good idea to me and does away with the problem of what to do with left over beer etc.

I did form a sort of chatty friendship with one of the lads running it so, come the day of the game, I thoughtlessly wandered in to have a drink and was minding my own business when the friendly bloke came in and reminded me that on matchdays it was for Blackburn fans only! Rather like the News of the World reporters, I quietly made my excuses and left.

If the new Peter Taylor Stand (is it built yet) has been designed to have a big bar area inside that sold a decent selection of beers and food then my son and i would gladly go in there pre match rather than go to the pubs and burger vans around the ground. Put screens in there to show live football and it's an even bigger selling point.

It's not difficult in my eyes. Stack high and sell cheap. It works and Old Trafford and Anfield so why not at The City Ground.

Decent pints at £5 and people will buy them.
Burgers, hotdogs and pies at £4 and people will buy them.
Tray of chips (mainly for kids) at £3 and people will buy them.

There's still big profit to be made if it's done right.

Forest used to do this. Trent End hospitality was open during the week but they gave up because nobody used it. Trentside isn't exactly an enticing destination on non match days.

They should get rid of the entire car park behind the BC & extend the fanzone. That has been a good addition but could be 3-4x the size!

Even if the food was good i'll never get anything from the concourses because they are always too busy.
Agreed. The fan zone is great and we tend to stay there until about 20 minutes before kick off.

Am I right in thinking you can go there at half time now?

was weird the other day when all the queue was at the top of the BC upper steps rather than a queue through the car park. Probably doesn't take much to turn the car park into a class place to be whilst also relieving flow of people. Getting to their seat

Fanzone could be way more lucrative. There’s thousands that can’t get tickets, why on earth not play the game, cheaper beer and food for those without tickets? I don’t get it
