... or the panel that just wont die.

Billy credits the panel for Boyd and hopes they deliver more.

"But, as I said, this was my recommendation back in January. It is good that it is being listened to now, in March."

Still has a subtle dig though doesn't he! Haha.

Well at least they got their man eventually, it does appear that the panel may be a bit long winded in January though.

I have been trying to find the info for this, can anyone tell me if they knoww

When was the panel set up?

Who has been signed since the panel started?

Who were the players we signed before the panel was set up? , looking over a similar amount of time since it was set up

It's all very well to knock the panel when we don't sign someone, but who has it been responsible for in comparison with who we have signed in the past.

I think Pleat came in just after Calderwood so its brought us Cohen, Davies, Majewski, Mckenna, Camp, Gunter, Blackstock, Earnshaw, Adebola, Anderson, Boyd, Shorey, Henry, Wilson?, Chambers?, Lynch, Mcgoldrick, Garner....

Most of the players we have signed since the introduction of the panel have been good.

Thanks for that, now think about some of the players we got for a couple of seasons before, Eugene Dadi, Geno Padula, David Frio etc etc

I know I am missing out some good players we may have signed, but I think the panel has been responsible for stopping some of the knee jerk signings we made in the past.

Calderwood was announced in May 06, Pleat in August 06.

The first time I recall hearing about 'the panel' was in the aftermath of the playoffs and we released a lot of players. Doughty said in an interview (or maybe Arthur, but I think the former) that they had put 'a structure' in place to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past. So not the panel, exactly, but I'm guessing this is what was meant.

I'm sure that someone like Ken Smales would know.

I love the Transfer Acquisition Panel.
Billy should stop being such an arse and get on with it - £6.5m and counting in fees so far this season and another very promising signing.
Problem, what problem?

Wasn't that Posh chairman saying that his manager had said Boyd should go? Perhaps the panel were rebuffed on the same offer in January and only now has the manager given the go-ahead to sell?

I thought it was whilst Meggo was here.
I seem to recall mention of it when we were in the process of signing Tyson. Don't ask me to confirm that though!

For some reason I've always had it in the back of my mind that it was something Megson helped set up. I could well be wrong though!

Pleat was indirectly involved for a while, advising Doughty, etc.

I vaguely remember watching an interview with ND just after CC was appointed where he mentioned Pleat being involved and a new 'structure'.

I don't think the actual Panel was set up whilst Megson was here, though. There's no way they'd have sanctioned some of Megson's signings.
