The new Stadium options assume some financial deal either with World Cup funding or Building Development.

The options to stay on the current site preclude any World Cup involvement but would increase main Stand to 10K or 15K and capacity to 35 or 40K

I would happily pay extra for my ticket if we redevelop the Main Stand.

The club'll be quids in rubbing its hands in maniacal glee if option 2 wins.

Are you, in fact, Mark Arthur?

The only time I would back a new stadium is when we get to a stage where the CG is not big enough for the demand of tickets. And currently we are not at that stage.

By that time the city ground will be even less adequate and club will be faced with financing move on their own at higher cost than biting the bullet now (no world cup/external funding plus potential inflation). This will impact on squad investment and put us at serious disadvantage.

If the grand plan is to be in the Prem within 5 years, then assuming its going to take 3/4 years to go get approval and build, surely we need to plan ahead and do something now while opportunity exists?

For the main stand to be funded you're talking about an extra £10 per game, per person, for the next 5 years. If not more/longer.

We can't wait - the opportunity is now, not when demand for more seats happens (and it will!). The CG would cost a fortune to redevelop and if we leave it as is, then every Tom Dick and Rochdale will have a better ground. Much as we'd hate to, we must move. By the way, I'm not sure that polls conducted on LTLF are representative of the overall feeling amongst Forest fans. I spoke to 2 different groups of people before and during the game yeaterday and they are quite happy to move to a new home. It doesn't make them better or worse fans - maybe they're just more realistic.

Surely the views of 100's of people on this site are more indicative of public opinion than 'two different groups of people.'

anyone that sits in the upper trent please destroy the advertisement boards that say support the bid!

But the people I spoke to were at random - my example was just to show that. Other than those, I haven't met a person other than on LTLF who is against a move. Sure this is anecdotal, but doing a straw poll amongst LTLFers is not really likely to be accurate. The truth is, whatever the fans want, will not count for a bean when the decisions are made. I think that if you got ALL our supporters to vote, you'd be surprised at how many would vote for a move.

My point is meakin 80 etc, that you don't speak for me and you don't speak for probably the majority of Reds fans. To develop the CG or to fund a move, we need to succeed in the World Cup Bid. Trust me! Without it, we will not be able to produce a stadium fit for our ambition. If we win the bid, there will be a few World Cup matches to chew the pitch up a bit, but then we will be left with a brilliant new ground.

If the forum was called "Forest fans against stadium move" then you may have a point. Just because you talked to the people face to face doesn't mean their views are less biased than people on the internet of the same group.

Move to Eastcroft, How good would that be to be close to the city centre. Train links, tram lines etc.
It gets my vote - Not too keen on a move to Gamston though - a little too far out in my opinion.

I think this is a good point, since I also notice when listening to mates they are alot less hostile to controversial issues (e.g. ground share) than consensus on here. Same applies to websites such as Evening Post, since objecters to anything tend to shout louder that those that are for/or indifferent

You always have to take any poll conducted on a supporters forums with a pinch of salt. There is a natural skew as opionions are generally more 'hard core' than your average supporter who attends the odd game. These are sometimes seen as 'part timers', but this like it or not its where the majority of the fan base lies (as with any club). A shiny new stadium will probably appeal to these guys and thats how you grow attendences.

Obviously does not mean forums view on stadium should be ignored, but from a pure research perspective its open to challenge!

Whats all this business with reducing the capacity from 43k down to 38k?
I'd take a new stadium around 38k but the idea of dismantling a state of the art stadium to suit our needs just sounds like a bodge. What will they do..Take out the first 5 rows all round the bowl making us even further from the pitch?

Apparently build it with the corners in which will be temporary then take em down after the world cup... so we return to having a four stand stadium.

Temporary makes me think of what they used to do to "centre court" during the Nottingham open... that would be funny... Its the same concept there using for the Olympic Stadium (London)

That seems to make sense for an old stadium but just can't imagine doing that with these modern, shiny designs. Just hope stands are nice and steep and fairly close to the pitch.
