The science of hoof ball!

So, Billy is going to be working on some extra training techniques he's not had time to before, making use of the international break (come on England). He's also getting in a lump to put up top with urgency.

Does this mean The Reds are going to be fine tuning their hoof ball over the next 2 weeks? Are we happy about this development?

I do remember a lot of talk (was it from Calderwood?) about being able to get the ball down and play more in this league as opposed to League 1. Is this a total miscalculation that BD is trying to put to rights? Do you think there've been a lot of hoofing teams in the league?

Here comes the science bit ...

I don't mind the hoofball tactics when it actually works! Lumping it upto a 5'8 guy is a bit pointless but it seems Davies knows what he is doing in respects of looking for that correct kind of player.

As with the last derby game, Forest don't always know how to avoid being bullied into a hoofish game of footy. If we're going to be badgered into it in the short term, then in the short term we need someone who can get on the end of long balls.

Personally I don't care if a new striker sticks the ball up his arse, walks into the goal and shits it out, as long as we score enough to stay up. Passing football is like chaining combos in a video game - you almost have to be 'in the zone' and doing on instinct, reading the team on instinct, to pull it off. For that you need to be relaxed and confident, and most of all be well practiced, and not just on the training field. The imcumbent garibaldi parade haven't been given an inch in this regard by the opposition. Perhaps Calderwood was hoping for a few challengeless games in which this might have developed early doors. He didn;t get them and I think I was probably as surprised as he when we got back up to find a lot of teams playing a sort of advanced third tier game. Lok at Swansea, who had the fluid deck-based game off-pat by the time they came up.... that's worked for Martinez because he's brought in a lot of dirty foreigners who were bought up playnig a passing game on their local fields, whereas we play a selfish and hoofy game on ours. I've got three amateur pitches opposite my house and the ability is there, they just lump it though, from the six year olds to the adults. Still, we're in rugby country here, old bad habits die hard.

Hey - we have striker you might be interested in... ahem... remember when we beat Chelski? The man that day was Kayode Odejayi, you'd love him. Big, powerful, athletic, scores goals (well a goal) in important matches (well an important match) (don't mention the crucial miss in the f.a. cup semi final)... looks good in red...

I reckon you could prize him away from us...

What should we say? £2 million? Ok, since it's you lot, we'll call it £1 million plus a sell on and international bonus for us if he goes on to the Premier League...

Just wanted to say that Gary Holt plays for Shrewsbury Town? Since when did he ever move to Wycombe!

For the attention of the Barnsley fan, Odejayi is a bank of shit! Watched him a few times when you were on the TV last year and he couldn't hit a barn door!
