The Relegation Dogfight 25/26

Haaland hasn't scored in 3 minutes during this Man City match

Over an entire season he would have the same amount of goals this season as Titus Bramble at this current goals per minute ratio.

Worrying times.

Because the sample sizes are ridiculous

They are all based on about 3 games
Maybe, maybe not, but we're over a quarter of the way though the season and we're averaging 0.6ppg, and of the 7 games since sacking Nuno 0.29. We need a huge turnaround.

Whats bollocks about it?
Sample size is way too small for any of the managerial spells to be meaningful in any way in terms of extrapolating into the future (Ange likely continuing to be shit excepted). All that matters is that we have 6 points and West Ham 7 and there are 28 games yet to play.

We could analyse all the managers last 20 games in charge of their respective clubs, but that still doesn't work in our favour. I agree theres a long way to go.

I thought West Ham were looking lame ducks but today has shown there must be some ability in their squad. I think Wolves are the only one's looking nailed on to drop so far (I think they a shocking squad so think any new manager bounce will be very short term and minimal). Going to be a long hard slog but I think there is at least 3 worse teams.
Yes-Wolves are starting to look a bit doomed already.

It could be a real dogfight between Forest,West Ham,Burnley and Leeds for the final 2 places.

It’s still relatively early but I don’t see any other sides getting into serious trouble really.

Or we could agree it’s early days for both of them at new clubs and that what happened at previous clubs with different players isn’t very relevant. West Ham winning now and then is good for us anyway since it’s likely to be against teams we could realistically catch. Same goes for Wolves. It all depends on us starting to look after our own business.

All that is certain is 3 teams will be relegated come the end of the season.
Wolves could get a new manager bounce.
Sean could give Forest exactly what the team needs.
Nuno is a good coach (until he falls out with the dildo seller).
It could well be 3 different teams down at the bottom by next May.
Man City could finish up with a forced relegation.
Who knows…
I feel more confident about our chances despite being 19th at the moment.

I'm hoping Everton get dragged in, would be ironic after finally moving into their fancy new stadium.

I’m almost certain at least one out Wolves,Forest and West Ham will drop,Captain.

I could see Fulham getting dragged into it and possibly Brentford if they get a couple of injuries but can't see anyone else beyond the teams that are already involved. Maybe Everton?
Agreed. both teams are poor and a few injuries to either and they are in the poop.

This year will see a fair few teams duking out IMO.

After Jan's window, we won't be one of them.

I wouldn't rule Sunderland out. They're doing great but it's quite possible opposition start to figure them out and they have a bad run.

Sunderland are having a great season, but as well as the AFCON issue, their wins have mostly been against shit sides in the bottom half of the table apart from Chelsea.

Their other wins have been against West Ham, Brentford, Wolves and the gimmie of all gimmie of points an Ange-Forest.

You can only beat what's in front of you, but they've had a very easy start to the season for sure.

It would have to be a total collapse for them to go down now-they’ve got approaching nearly half the points they need already.

You could even make the argument Bournemouth have had a fairly soft start. Their wins so far have come against Wolves (H), Tottenham (A), Brighton (H), Fulham (H), and Forest (H). Draws against Leeds, Newcastle and Palace. There’s only really away at Spurs there that’s that impressive.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, Wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

To be honest I thought I was posting this in the general Premier League thread rather than the “relegation battle” thread 🤣.

So no, I take your point, Bournemouth aren’t going to be involved in the relegation battle, but equally the point stands - in general they’ve not had the most difficult of starts and I don’t think they’ll stay in the Champions League spots for long.

Obviously I’ll take this all back after they come from behind to beat City today.
