The Relegation Dogfight 25/26

If Bowen is out for even any noteable period they are f**ked.

He's played most minutes out of any of their players this season, with 2151 min under his belt in the Prem, has 26 games under his belt with only 1 of them being in a cup c omp, and is their top goalscorer with 8 Prem goals.

Like I said months ago, if Forest wanted to guarantee safety, we'd have bought him this window. Without him West Ham are down.

So if he gets even a few minor knocks or burns out before season end, each game he misses sees Wet Sham drop to a Chamionship level team - where most Prem opposition take all points.

On paper I get why folk think they have the potential to improve, but odds wise in reality their hope lies too much on 1 man IMO
The thing I don't agree with is that because they managed to put a couple of wins together they are somehow now in great form

They won two in a row at the start of November then didn't win again for another ten matches

West Ham have also got Todibo missing for 3 games now too. Whilst I don't rate him at all, if he's better than his replacement then that's got to be a massive concern for them.

I'm still shocked that we've not heard anything about Traore getting a retrospective ban.

West Ham are looking a bit better, granted - but they just can't stop conceding goals.

If it wasn't for Areola they'd concede even more.

Still a long way to go and plenty of stuff can change, but I'd rather be six points ahead rather than six points behind. It's demoralising as much as anything else - West Ham won two games in a row, yet only ultimately gained one point.
It's this that will ultimately keep us up. They are in the same position we were in when Nuno took over.

Look pretty good going forward, but keep shipping goals. Just like we did. Luckily we had Luton chasing us.

Milenkovic came in and sorted that out for us. If they find a Milenkovic today, then fair play to them, but they wont.

I believe they are just about to announce a Croatian called mick nilenkovic…

If Nuno keeps reverting to a back 5 as soon as they take the lead they'll get nowhere.
Their defence is simply not good enough to see out a game.

Sky Sports News understands that West Ham are close to sealing a £7.2m deadline day deal for Nottingham Forest centre back Nikola Milenkovic...

He won't do. He was booked and then checked by var.

I've created a mini table to try and make myself feel better.

In the mini League of 14 games, it looks like this.

Spurs 0
Palace 0
Leeds -3
Forest -3
West Ham -9

Forest have to just avoid finishing bottom of this table, but we could have the worst form and STILL match West Ham

Looks a bit like the Chinese Super League before the first game of their season.

But West Ham look like they will win a lot of games now, particularly at home.
Doubt it

Honestly don't think we will be relegated - if someone other than West Ham go down it is probably more likely to be Palace or Leeds

While we're in 17th it's us or West Ham in my opinion.
We have the same number of points as Leeds and are 3 behind Palace and Spurs.

If we are 6 ahead of West Ham, why would none of those be included in that - especially Leeds?

I thought back in November it was between Forest,West Ham and Leeds for the final place-I then changed to
Forest and West Ham after Leeds improved but I’m now back in the Forest,West Ham or Leeds camp (the game
at Elland Road on Friday looks a big one to me).

I think Palace will be okay.

Opta has us getting 17pts from 14 games. We got 14pts from these 14 games in the first half of the season. It does feel doable.

Don't forget that Palace will have no Guehi for the 2nd half of the season and also with Glasner having one foot in the exit door, even if Mateta doesn't end up leaving.

It's possible they won't get as much in the reverse fixtures and they are close enough for a bad run to put them into it.

I still don't think West Ham have enough to put together a run to overhaul anyone. But we don't need much of an uptick in form to be catching Spurs and Palace, and passing them, especially bearing in mind we lost some matches on the first half average with Nuno wanting out, Ange, and Dyche getting the squad used to things again, as well as not having Aina.

Because I think Leeds are too good, and Palace and Spurs are too far ahead to really be troubled.

Think after the window I’m more confident we stay up. Palace are weaker in defence and have spent all there money on a forward who hasn’t scored and open play goal this season. We’ve strengthened at full back got a great keeper in and bolstered our front line. Bring on the rest of the season !

Im increasingly feeling that it will be Leeds who eventually drop. West Ham have strengthened and Nuno is a very good Manager, Leeds have apparently done really well whereas weve been crap and we have the same points! Our game Friday is bigger than the Palace game, they have Chelsea villa and City after us so if we beat them we could be a good few points ahead in a couple of weeks, leaving dirty Leeds and Nuno to slug it out in the relegation pit

If we win Friday I think we're on our way to mid table obscurity, sounds awesome at the moment!
