The potential target man...

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on who we can realistically bring in instead of Harewood?

Cannot really think of anyone apart from perhaps Andy Carrol of Newcastle but even he is on the fringes of their 1st team.

Southampton are looking to sell Gregor Rasiak. He's one of the best target men in the league and wouldn't cost too much.

If Watford have a contract with him until the end of the season, there's no way we can break it.

Scowcroft

Kuqi would do a job for the remainder of the season.

Kuqi is shit and his attitude stinks.

Scowcroft would be unpopular, but effective.

Not sure why Marlon is being described as a target man, since it's never a role I've seen him do particuarly well!

I am just going on what BD said post match and he essentially said we need someone that will pair up well with Earnshaw, Tyson or Garner who are all similar types of strikers. Then he went on to say that players like Rasiak or Iwelumo (target men) are very helpful to sides.

I think Rasiak would be good but it is a season long loan at Watford so I am under the impression that Watford are not allowed to recall him??

How about.....

McGoldrick (Southampton), Gallagher (Plymouth), Priskin (Watford), Beckford (Leeds), Fryatt (Leicester) ?

Marlon has never been the 'finished article'. He was unbelievably fast (as is Tyson) but he did have great strength too. His main asset to us was that he could put the wind up defences as Tyson does. Nathan often hurries defences into giving away corners or throw-ins in dangerous positions. Who to replace Marlon with as the object of our attentions? Who knows? I thought, for instance that Wolves strikers were nothing out of the ordinary and show that there is an unbelievable lack of talent out there. We can score goals with smaller players, but need to change our style of play. We have the skill and the speed up front but it's useless when every ball towards them is launched up like a ground-to-air missile.

Gallagher has been very good on loan to Plymouth he would be a good signing!
Priskin, young and has a great finish on him, I would sign him.
Beckford, not too sure.
Fryatt, also not sure on.

I don't think we are good enough to break down defences that way. I would like to see a Swansea style of play from forest but look at the amount of times we concede possession Perch was pretty poor at keeping the ball yesterday Earnshaw is being isolated up front because we cannot trust the defence to cope on their own and when we do relieve the pressure we are put under it usually has to involve a hoof upfield. Now we are forcing Tyson, Earnshaw etc. to play a target man and hold up player. The only one who can really hold the ball up is Garner but aerially he is weak and I am sure he finds it difficult to beat those defenders to headers.

None of those are actual target men in the true sense of the phrase.

Maybe not but they're goal scorers. :-*

Given that we have a few spare c/b at the club, and it seems that BD wants a target man for our strikers to play off I would be inclined (im gonna get slated for this) to play Wes in this role for the remaining games if we cant get anyone in.

The only problem is that I don't think there is anyone to take Wes's place at the back, otherwise I'd be inclined to agree.

I would expect us to try and sign him.......... given that he is out injured for a month

I would probably play Brecks & Chambers there for a half each, still allowing us 2 further substitutions.

Can't believe you did'nt mention Perchy, as we have decent cover in the middle of the 'park'

I think with ozzy injured and the moose lacking match fitness, Perch would have to play the holding role.

ozzy should return for the next game, so the perchmeister is good to go at centre back
