The Mood

Is anyone else in a complete state of calm?

I feel that the overall direction of the club is positive, the transfer window was good and nothing like the erratic ones of the past. We kept hold of our key players and signed quality over quantity. Our manager is a very calm and studious type with a proven track record at previous clubs. Yes, the results aren't quite there at the moment and there are arguments over the new system, but I feel that once things start to click, we could get on a real good run.

Other clubs are in a state of panic already; Coventry and Ipswich are going to struggle. Fulham, Palace and Everton fans are worried about lack of transfer business, Bournemouth and Sunderland are competing on several different fronts this season and they will struggle with the Thursday/Sunday games. Even Villa fans think that there season could be a slog.

Appreciate that the start of the season hasn't been ideal; I'm not completely ecstatic, nor am I despondent, just in a state of contentment and acceptance of this transitional period.

Very calm and have full belief in the new direction we've taken. Potential worries about our home form and more specifically the potential headloss if we don't get anything at Villa Park and fail to beat Coventry in our next home game - little crossroad moments like that have a huge say in not only the teams momentum, but the feeling within our fanbase. I dread those early promoted teams at home early in the season.

If Glasner can do to Emery next week what he has done to him several times in the past we'll be laughing. I think we'll be seeing a few more draws before everything really comes together.

I didn't see the match, so I can only go on the result, and I am definitely disappointed that we weren't able to get three points from what is, on paper, a relatively easy home game again.

But Glasner's position shouldn't even be coming into question. We know it's a transition, it's going to take time. There's a lot of stuff still settling. We've just got to stick with it and trust the process, as the saying goes.

We've not had the easiest of fixtures for the first three matches, and frankly the points on the board are not really reflective of the matches. The annoyance is external and that the actual number of points is less than maybe the matches should reflect.

Leeds was a bore-all draw all day long, but was an error that stopped it being so.

Scouse was a a twinge of regret that it was not three on the bounce.

Spurs was more a feeling of being robbed of another three points, though a draw may have been fair as throughout there were moments they were on top and likely to score and then we were on top and looked like scoring.

Great post & sums it up nicely for me.

-We'll get better as players adapt to the system.

-Once the European games kick in we'll have an advantage in a fair few games. I don't think some of the teams have added enough depth to cope with playing twice a week, but rest assured teams like Bournemouth will give it everything in Europe.

-We've got some money left for January should it be needed. I'm confident a fair few other teams won't be able to say the same.

Calm & confident.

I'm calm in a sense in that I think we've got too much about us to worry about relegation.

I don't see each game that passes without a win as being a potential step closer to the Championship like I did last season as I think we'll improve to a point where we won't be in danger.

I’m hopeful and relatively confident that we will slowly improve as the season progresses.

I hope we can remain solid, take a few more chances and slowly eek out some points until January.

If we can be around that 11-14 mark then in terms of points shouldn't be miles away. Then you're going into a second half of the season where other teams are juggling midweek fixtures. That's when we'll need an injection of quality in the forward areas as there's too much reliance on MGW right now.

Again though it depends what the aims of the club are. If it's a comfortable mid-table season then we're probably fine to just leave things as they are. I doubt it is though so the tools need to be provided to make it possible. Dan Ndoye for example isn't going to cut it.

I still have some of those cigarettes left that I got in Jamaica, so I'm as chilled as a cucumber.

I'm a bit mixed really because I looked at our start and thought we needed to beat Leeds because trips to Anfield and Villa Park are really tough away days and Spurs had spent the GDP of a small country on a new team. We didn't beat Leeds and actually ended up losing, so all of a sudden, that next three looks pretty bleak.

Leeds in the Cup was a bit of a f***ing shambles, there's no other way to describe that. In the league game, it could have gone either way but Leeds had us over in the Cup.

But then we go to Anfield, get a great point and you could coin flip that we could have won that. We play Spurs and we should have won. Next, we go to Villa Park and the thing about going to Villa Park, we always seem to go there with injuries to key players but instead, it's Villa that are unsettled right now and I think we could honestly go there and get a result. I think the players sort of owe the fans and themselves a result at Villa Park after last year's Europa Semi.

What I mean by this is that, I expected that when we play Coventry we'd have only 3 points on the board. What I didn't really anticipate is that those three points might come from Liverpool, Spurs and potentially Villa.

I don't think we should take Coventry lightly, at all. They showed in the City performance they can play and it'd be very Forest to go to Villa Park, win and then lose to Coventry. Coventry to Brentford is where we can really start to get going and I think we will.

Yes, I am exactly the same

My only frustrations at the moment is everyone over reacting to everything that happens, the thing that will derail this season is if the fans start getting irritable if we start slow - we fans cannot afford to act like spoilt brats like they did at times last year

Absolutely 👍 Social Media is an awful cesspit of ludicrous opinions. Nothing wrong with being critical, but I can only assume the people on the ‘Glasner Out’ bandwagon are trolls who didn’t get enough attention from Mummy and Daddy.

Agreed - It’s actually quite refreshing to step away from social media and come to this forum where there are more balanced and measured opinions

88/89 we lost the first game and then drew the next five. Even then we weren't particularly great until Laws and Parker came into the side towards the end of the year.
Yes-I was thinking of that season as well when we drew a lot of games in the first half of the season.

We certainly caught fire after Christmas though and I agree about Parker particularly-I saw him come on as a substitute at Chester in the League Cup and was immediately impressed.

Mildly peeved and only the slightest tad nervous that we only have 2 points from 9 when we could just have easily had 6 or even 7.

Not playing badly. Just not getting the points at the moment. Hopefully that changes soon.

Glasner starting slow is such a thing that I'm just glad we haven't lost all 3. I think we might get a surprise result at Villa and then a first home win v Cov, and things will settle down.

If not, Vitor hasn't taken another job, we can just get him back in December...

Whilst I agree but if fans say we will finish in Europe and say that the transfer window was very very good than how can people not overreact? I think we should expect to be safish by late March. Than build again for the season after on a solid base.

The thought of Vitor's style without Ando, Hutch or a fit Wood to make it tick worries me much more than what I've seen so far this season.
