Derby offer Boots employees tickets to Forest and either West Brom or Preston for £40-odd.

Would you rather have the City Ground full of atmosphereless day-trippers?

I wouldn't.

Maybe if we had a good reason for taking the easy way out. :tomato:

In all fairness it was cold on saturday.

I can also take you an age to escape the traffic, I didn't leave early on saturday but if we are losing I certainly will.

I can understand leaving a few minutes early if we have played shit and are losing (I have done this several times myself).

I was referring to the hundreds who leave habitually early no matter how the game is going!

The chap that sits on the end of our row, misses the first ten minutes, misses five minutes each side of half time and leaves at least five minutes early no matter what. He's missed loads of goals and stuff, against Donny he didn't even come back up for the second half!

I used to prefer it when we got smaller crowds in league one as it was easier to get out and drive away after the match.
these glory hunters cashing in should just stay away, simples!

Yet again Direby put us to shame.

Derby fans are happy to pick up freebies to watch their team (and boo them off when they lose).

But when it comes to making the effort.... forking out money to travel and support the team, they are shocking. Their away support is about the same as a League One / big League 2 club. They don't put anyone to shame, except for their own club.

That, my good man, is b*****ks.

Forest have sustained a solid away following throughout the s**t times we've had - so this season nor last are no kinds of flash in the pan.

I take on board and agree with much of the criticism of our home fans, but our away fans are second to not many from what I've seen of other teams travelling fans.

I agree that is bull. I actually think our shite home atmosphere actually helps our away numbers. People go to the away games for a good sing-song and a proper football day out which you don’t really get with home games.

I think the majority of our home support goes to game demanding to be entertained while our away support travelling the length of the country to get behind the team no matter how things are going on the pitch

Players always mention the fantastic away support they receive and must be scratching their heads as to why they don’t receive that at home games. It would explain our decent away form this season as players goes into these games knowing they have the full backing of every single Forest fan in the stadium. Can the same be said for home games?

I think that is spot on, its a shame really, but our home support is really poor sometimes.

Still, I'm sure we'll make some noise saturday :)

I think Derby are right on the money with their oft mocked offers.

They know the football isn't good enough to get people there, so they have done something about it. Their marketing is one of very few things I think they trump us at.

The mobile phone/season ticket offer is outstanding. Forest should cnotact a mobile operator and offer something similar.

They sold 'Two Season' season tickets when they were promoted, obviously this was an attempt to keep the wolves from the door financially, but it engineered a following for two years, and ensure that attendances wouldn't drop when it emerged just how shit they were.

There's a lot Forest could learn from Derby in that respect, sheep masks and beach parties notwithstanding.

Agree with this. It's clear from away attendances who actually has the more hardcore supports. Forest's marketing is shocking and I actually fear for our home support when Notts County launch their huge marketing campaign which will surely come in the near future. The more casual support may be swayed over the river with the offers they are bound to do to attract locals down to Meadow Lane.

Our hardcore support wouldn't be affected if season tickets were given out with mobile phones.

We'd just see an extra 3 or 4 thousand at home games, plus the hardcore home fans may well use the saving to pay for some away games, or get an away season ticket.

The way the Derby deal works takes nothing out of Derby's pocket.

The phone company BUY the season ticket from the club for it's full price. They only pay for the cheapest one, so if you want a more expensive one, you can effectively 'top it up', so to speak.

The club do nothing but benefit from this.

Yes, marketing like this may attract more casual fans, but I don't think it would be at the cost of hardcore fans. How hardcore could a fan be if they decide not to go to the games because there are more people there now that when we were in League One?

I see no downside with it. If it was promoted properly it could be brilliant for the club.

Forest's Marketing/Commercial department needs a big overhaul..that is a fact.

From the ticketing to the shite merchandise we offer, this all needs to be looked at.

It really is crazy. I'd be happy to spend more money at the club, if they adid something that appealed to me.

I actually had a look round the shop the other day for the first time in ages and all I saw was over-priced crap. Some other clubs do some really nice gear but Forest's stuff really is only suitable for the chavy types.

They don't sell Smack in Forest emblazoned foil wraps, or syringes with Billy's face on the depressor.

Or Forest trilby's

They don't pay full price for the season ticket, they get a bulk discount so to speak. It's not an astronomical sum taken off the full cost but because they buy a set amount at the start of the promotion and register the details later (as they're purchased) they make a small saving on each ticket. The risk obviously is that they don't see them all but even then I imagine they could use them in further promotions in some way.

I looked at the terms and conditions of the offer and it states that they do pay the full price, or give a voucher to the value of the lowest price season ticket for people wanting to renew or buy more expensive season tickets.

So, if the lowest price seasont icket at Forest is £350 but you wanted an A block ticket at £500 you'd get a £350 'gift voucher' to take in and only have to pay £150.

I'll see if I can dig up the terms, but they were express in their writing that Derby County lose absolutely no money. I imagine some people were concerned that getting a ticket that way would reduce their clubs revenues, which is fair enough.

They pay the full price on your behalf if that makes sense., they pay Derby say £325 for a £350 voucher which they pass onto you. It's the same with the offers they do for Laptops, PS3's, Xbox's, etc... The customer receives an item of a certain value and if they were to buy it they'd pay that full value but as a business agreement, bulk buy or whatever you care to call it the company pay slightly less.
