I have mixed feelings about the Damned United

The reasons are:

It’s about Clough
There may be a 2nd movie about his time at FOREST!!!

But

I don't wanna see derby doing well
The Clough family are against it
No one can play Brian and do him justice
and I hate Derby

So I have decided to start a poll and if more people want to go and see it than don't then ill go and see it.

I'd go and see it even if I wasn't a Forest fan.

We had to read the book as part of a module at uni last year and I really enjoyed it. As did my friends who support QPR, Newcastle, Spurs, Carlisle and Torquay.

The film isn't particularly like the book, because they've cut out a fair bit of the drinking, so close your mind off to what the Cloughs think, and go and see the film for what it is.

You shouldn't base on a decision because other people say they are not going to see it. Despite the circumstances. If you YOURSELF want to see it then go and see it, you wont be dissapointed.

Simple really - Some Twonk on LTLF said Forest fans are boycotting because the Clough family are. What utter tosh, it's down to you as an individual!

I wrote a review on LTLF - I loved the film as did Flagman and FBS and really urge anyone who likes football to see it!

And he spelled Family wrong.

Wasn't The Damned United supposed to be a work of semi-fiction?

If I recall correctly the writer had to pay damages to somebody who was on the Leeds United board at the time, for defamation of character.

I can't get to see it until it's been out for a week so can nobody spoil then ending for me please.

I'm hoping despite his problems he leads Leeds to European Glory.

It was.

However, most of the people who came out of it badly were already dead so unlikely to turn up in court.

Onions.
I enjoyed the book, and when a film comes out of a book i enjoyed, i will always try and see the film

The film is a lot more light hearted than the book. It's a shame the Clough family won't go and see it as ther is nothing negative in it, unlike the book.

Why are they premiering it so long before people can watch it?

...pretty silly premiering it after everyone's seen it...!! :D

Seriously, though, the premiere is ahead of the general release for precisely the reason that you find yourself on this thread.

It's to get people talking about the film before they've seen it, thus stimulating your interest and increasing the chances of you parting with your pennies at the box-office.

I'd happily pay to see The Damned United, even though I saw it in London the other night. It's very good. :)

I've been waiting to see the film since it was announced.

Two days after Johnathan Ross was twittering his appreciation for Watchmen I could go and see it myself. 48 hours is fine to wait, but a week and a half is bullshit. That's enough time for conversation to come and go regarding another feelgood Britcom which is what it'll be to everyone except Clough lovers, who will see it regardless. There'll be bootlegs online before I get to see this in the pictures.

Really looking forward to seeing this and so is my wife and our pet cat and tortoise.

every film ever released has it's premier usually about a week before, it's not exactly uncommon!! re: bootlegs...ignore them and wait, like 99.9% of those who want to see it but weren't invited to or win tickets to the premier!! :D

I can't wait to see it, even if it does contain good things about the botherers of sheep!! I am too young to have experienced Clough in his hey day, infact the year he retired was the first season i went to see Forest, as a 6 year old. I think I can remember being at his last game. But I've heard so much about this period in his career, it will be great to see it on screen. Michael Sheen (that his name) seems to do him justice from what i've seen of trailers.

So basically, definitely going to see it! i would pay too, but my mate works at local cinema and can take 3 guests for free so.....
