First Team Squad
Forest doing a lot about nothing in yet another transfer window.... anybody starting to think back to what they did to Paul Hart....didn't back him, sold half the team from under him then said go on Paul do it again for us, because 'we'er serious about promotion'.....Jan 2004 post Coventry cheers but no thank's don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.... all hail big fat joe!

So hope I'm wrong and will happily eat these words!

it is typical of forest to set their standards too high and miss out on key players. last summer we were realistic with our signings, adebola, mcgoldrick, blackstock, anderson, all seasoned championship players, but would be lucky to get a premiership offer. this year we are going after targets which have premiership qualities which is excellent if we do manage to pull it off, but we are finding ourselves competing premiership clubs which we just cant compete with.

hopefully we dont let our targets screw us around for too long and go for other more realistic targets before we end up with no-one.

We are in a far stronger position this summer than last. Who would have wanted to come to a near relegated club?

Who would want to hold out for a Prem move with possibly more than double wage than what we offer? Most of them I would reckon.

But the panic at this stage is silly.

we must be realistic, shorey for me isnt. hes too old over paid and wants prem football. why should we break wage structures to sign one player. not saying hes crap far from it just feel we shold be looking for a younger model

There would not have been half the unease there is had it not been for any number of people (on any number of forums - Including this one) that have claimed to 'be in the know' or 'have contacts at the club' who have, in a scramble to become the 'first' to break the news, announced that several players have either agreed to sign, signed, or were very close to signing for Forest.
Sadly, these rumours (for that is what they have turned out to be) have created a situation where no communication from the club has led to increasing panic amongst some sections of the fanbase.

Rather than venting our ire at the club and aquisitions panel we should perhaps be turning to ask questions of those who, probably (in some cases) with the best of intentions, have created panic where perhaps a discreet silence would have served both football club and supporters better.

The club have proved adept in recent summers of getting in good players at very good cost and they should be trusted to do so again. The people claiming that 'X has agreed - It's done and dusted' are really not helping things at all.

Look at Blackpool, they picked up 1 or 2 players like Adam who've had the class to take them to the next level.

I think Forest are right to aim high for just a couple of class players like Shorey to help us step it up again.

It worked for us too after all. Billy turned us from 3rd Division fodder into a solid 2nd Division outfit with just a few choice additions.

still here...
I love all these panicky threads, you'd have thought after all these years of following Forest we'd all get used to our late transfer dealings. Obviously not!

Like most I'm starting to panic a little with the lack of activity, but there is still a long way to go before the season starts & i can't help feeling we're all going to be very happy with the squad we start the season with, they have to come good this time.

Big season for Forest this, we can't go into it weaker than last season!

I get the feeling, the board aren't going back him. hope im wrong.

I bet that will be the main theme of every interview Billy does between now and the end of the season, if he stays that long.
