Jaune Card Darcheville said:That's a bit harsh - there is a degree of consistency: he's still referring to himself in the third person.
Jaune Card Darcheville said:In fairness to him, he is following a precedent.
Harry Redknapp slated his team when results started to go against him...his was a very similar outburst to Davies', in that he questioned the ability of the players at his disposal.
He subsequently came over very contrite, talking his players up and claiming that he had been misinterpreted. Thereafter results improved.
Of course, he also spent £40m in the transfer window, but it is quite similar....

richjcrouch said:That's not similar at all.
Davies hasn't said he was misinterpreted.

Quinn said:Ive noticed he has really softened his voice in the interview, not rash at all.
Jonathan said:About this time of day is always best to be online because when we have signed people in the past, I'm pretty sure it's mostly been late afternoon when they make the announcement!
Quinn said:I don't know what more people want from this man.

Well stop slagging off our own players and making them think they are deer caught in headlights then.
Here's an idea - how about trying to build up their confidence instead of knocking it down Billy?
There are ways of "being realistic" that don't include stating that half the team aren't up to the job and will be gone in the summer anyway.
Just keep your mouth shut, win a couple of matches and I'm sure everything will be fine.
RighteousBrother said:I've heard the full interview on the BBC website. What is he talking about in relation to the 'fools' behind the dug out slagging him off? He said it started because he was contesting why 'their' manager was able to be 30 yards out of his box? Did some fans slag him off because he was having a go at Nigel Clough or have I misunderstood? Does anyone know what happened/he was trying to say? For the record I am inclined to agree that those behind the dugout who are already slagging him off when it is clear the predicament he is in due to the board's incompetence are probably 'fools', but some clarity on what started it/he is getting at would be appreciated.
richjcrouch said:"I'm very confident that David - with his experience and contacts - will continue to work hard and identify players that can come into this football club."
That differs somewhat from last weeks comments:
“It’s all left to others with the result that we failed to buy a single player in the January window and failed to loan anybody since.”
Pouring scorn on £60,0000-a-year “football consultant” David Pleat, chief executive Mark Arthur and head scout Keith Burt, Davies sniffed: “I am sure they know exactly what they’re doing.
“David Pleat has a fantastic pedigree. He will be identifying players as he travels around this country and Europe on his ITV duties.”

Used certain bits and mixed them in with others to give a different emphasis to the story. Can only get in trouble for printing lies and made up stuff not for getting right words in wrong order. Very naughty!!
Still if he shut his gob and got on with his job then he would not have a problem in the first place.
