The best stat for me this season is.........

This has probably been mentioned somewhere else but probably not it so much detail but ill be quick..............


out of the 46 games last season we conceeded 2 or more goals in 21 of those matches yet this season out of the 22 matches we have played we have only conceeded 2 or more goals in 2 games. I'm not trying to start any debates here or anything I just find this stat absolutely mind blowing when you think that although we have got a couple of new fullbacks in at the moment our centre back pairing is pretty much the same as last season.

I had a look at the top 6 to see what I could see (I have some spare time) and this is what I found out.

Newcastle conceeded 2 or more goals in 4 games (Blackpool/peterboro/scunny/barnsley)
W.B.A conceeded 2 or more goals in 6 games (peterboro/sheff u/barnsley/derby/cardiff/q.p.r)
Forest conceeded 2 or more goals in 2 games (watford/derby)
Cardiff conceeded 2 or more goals in 6 games (Doncaster/q.p.r/sheff wed/sheff u/swansea/ipswich)
Swansea conceeded 2 or more goals in 6 games (Leicester/middlesboro/preston/cardiff/newcastle/peterboro)
Leicester conceeded 2 or more goals in 5 games (watford/preston/w.b.a/forest/bristol city)

I think were doing very well after all that!!!

I saw today that the top 4 in the premiership (arsenal man u liverpool and chelsea) have already lost more games this season combined than combined from last season.

So if we do ever lose again, the chances are it'll be a 1-0. A bit of a fluke like the Baggies.
With our strength off the bench, when we do go 1-0 down, I'm usually confident of us pulling at least 1 back.

in league 1 leeds have done the same as us, only conceeding 2 or more goals in 2 games. Charlton have done 6, Norwich have done 8 by my counting, Colchester have done 5 games, Huddersfield have done 9 and swindon have done 6.

League 2
Rochdale 4 games
Bournemouth 7 games
Dagennam and redbridge 6 games
Rotheram 6 games
Notts 7 games
Chesterfield 10 games
Morecombe 8 games

So lower leagues (non prem) we have a similar record to Leeds only. This is really really really good going.

Unbeaten is good, but I'd rather have that additional points that Newcastle, WBA, Cardiff & Middlesborough have taken on the road.

We're above them, so who cares what they've done away?! the simple fact is we are unbeaten away from home. as well as being something we can be smug with, it also means that a lot of teams we visit will already know how tough it will be to get something off us.

I am loving the stat about us only conceding 2 or more goals in just 2 games. With Billy's 1 year anniversary coming up it just goes to show how far we've come in a relatively short period of time.

Wasn't he appointed on New Years Day?

His first game in charge was at Charlton but he started 'work' the day after the Man City game which was January 4th.

I can't remember to be honest. Technically if he didn't start 'work' until the 4th then that's when he began to impart his wisdom and genius on the squad, starting what we are now enjoying :)

My favourite stat is without question the goals for column. We'd be happy either way, being third, but to be banging them in with the style we are doing, eradicating Billy's 1-0 reputation, is as much a part of the feel good factor as anything else.

Conceding 7 goal on our travels. Only Leeds have done better in the top 3 divisions with 4.

Was reading the BBC preview earlier and saw that we've 'selected' (not sure whether that means used or just named in the squads) the least amount of players in the Championship, only 20! Can see why Billy wants to bring some more players in now!

Amazing when you consider that a match day squad is 18 players, and that up until we brought Shorey in a couple of weeks ago the figure was only 19!!
