The 1st test for the FA

zigga-zagga

The FA announced a few weeks ago that although all 'straight' red cards would carry an automatic three match ban they would look at the circumstances of the foul and may increase the ban in severe cases.

I reckon that last night's tackle easily qualifies for the review procedure and would expect the ban to be increased.

Sorry I have been looking for a link to the FA statement and can't find it but it was definitely on BBC Teletext.

Agreed. That foul was uncalled for, dirty and just intentional. It actually equated to getting frustrated on FIFA and constantly pressing the slide button.

That tit oughta be banned for at least 5 games. Even more if Tys is injured.

Thats what I said to my brother on the way out of the ground. But nowhere days we do tend to use a lot of comparisons to FIFA whilst talking about football

Here's Stuart McColls view

McCall admitted he did not get a clear view of Bateson’s challenge, which will rule the right back out for the next three games.

He said: “The lads thought he got a bit of the ball and I feel for Jon because it was a mistimed challenge. He’s not a dirty player and it wasn’t an over-the-top tackle.”

That's quite an opinion to form having not seen it! :w**ker:

The FA are a bunch of incompitent farts.

They will obviously let this one slip by without trace.

Hmm...imagine if it had happened in the Premier League though...

It was obviously difficult for McCall to see clearly after all it was all of 10m away from him.

Judging from the way McCall used to play he wouldn't see it as an 'over the top' challenge

I was sat behind the "away" dugout, about thirty feet from the incident, and if Stuart McCall "didn't see" the incident, he was certainly looking in that direction.

Sounds like he's been taking lessons in observation from Arsene Wenger - the Bradford player made no attempt to play the ball, he just wanted to kick Nathan who'd made a monkey of him all night.

Chuck the book at him I say, but you know that will never happen.

I wouldn't last 5 f***ing minutes in management. If that happened in my side I'd just say 'yes it was a horrible challenge and he'll be dealt with by the club, but we wish Tyson all the best and it's out of character from the player' or something to that effect. It's just completely gutless to both refuse to admit it was even a bad challenge, and also to claim you didn't even see it.

Come on McCall, play the white man  (can you say that anymore?)
