The ‘I have something to say about Forest that doesn’t warrant its own thread’ Thread

I couldn’t decide where to post this so here will do……

What does a US court have to do with Botafogo? Surely that's to do with the Brazilian legal system.
Because it's a personal angle to the contractual agreement and because he's a citizen in Florida he can use the jurisdictional aspect as a citizen of the state.

The distinguishing between the Committee members (Mr A.E. Chambers etc) and the players/staff (John Barnwell, even Ken Smales etc) is of an era which marks a deferential relationship from players towards those who ran the club. Very similar to how cricket labelled its amateurs and professionals.

I’ve just watched the lads ‘react’ to the ‘FC 27’ ratings in each category for themselves.

I stayed in on big snogging disco fridays at university in 1995 to play Football (then championship) Manager. And even so, what an utterly foul way of treating anyone this seems in real life. I don’t care if you earn a billion pounds a week, you’re better than any marks out of a hundred for your abilities. Cheese gets 41 for defending. Libellous.

We should start calling out, avoiding and refusing to click on material that dehumanises people. By all means, tell me what percentage of passes Morgan made last game, these are facts. But to say he’s a… whatever at passing?

Never let this poison be normal. It’s the humans in football that define it. Nebulous, imperfect, mutable. Not 80 out of a hundred. Nuanced. Prone to good and bad days. Putting the beautiful in the game.

EA can eat my jizz.

View attachment 63815My neighbour was working at an old guy's house called Les Shaw. Looks like he played for Forest around the time I was watching but I can't remember him. Apparently he had to give it up at 19 because of injury.
Newspaper reports suggest that he never played for the first team.

He was injured in road accident in May 1967, and had an op in October of that year on the cartilage in his knee.

Initially reports suggested that he was doing well as he was up and about in around 2 weeks but he had problems all season and was released the following May with the papers at the time suggesting that he might have to quit football, which, given the lack of further mentions it would seem he had to do. ☹️

A year ago today I was drinking beer , singing Forest songs and generally having a bloody good time in Seville.
Please Forest qualify for Europe again soon, it was so much fun. 🙏

That trip was magic - we couldn't have asked for a better opening game!

I did Utrecht & Istanbul too, and both were incredible in their own different ways (I'd happily return to both cities for a non-football trip), but Seville was something else. There were Forest fans everywhere basking in the intense sunshine.

That first half was probably the best 45 mins I've seen us have since Hillsborough in 95 relative to the occasion and opposition.

Oh what could have been.

Happy belated Steve Cooper Day. Five years + one day since his first game at the helm. We were lucky to get a draw that day, as I remember. Millwall had that big lump up front (Matt Smith, I think) who made mincemeat of Worrall and Figs all day. From cowering at home in front of mid-table Millwall to play-off winners - that’s how far we came in a few months with Coops. Always worth remembering.

From the “Where are they now?” storybook, it appears one ex-Forest player has taken up writing on music for the Guardian:
