Nah, this is "Big" Evangelos at his absolute pettiest and I am here for that.

It is a frankly brilliant wind-up, and bring it on Forest, because it is hilarious.

That club are going to end up like Mr. William Shakespeare's The Scottish Play when it comes to Premier League fixtures.

In fact - we should from now on refer to them simply as The South East London Club.

There. That'll bugger up the search engine indexers/crawlers.

"Matchday XX Official Matchday Thread - Nottingham Forest vs The South East London Club".

I think the Bard himself would probably approve.

We are supposed to be a professional football club and this is unprofessional.

It also fails to recognise Glasner's full cv.

I agree entirely. It’s the same with no longer announcing the opposition line-up before games - and it’s not as if our home record suggests doing this helps in any way. Even hurriedly mumbling the line-up like they used to is better than not giving it at all. As it is, you get opposition players’ names announced when they are subbed off or on but not the starting eleven. If we’re going to say clubs with clappers, drums, megaphones, black T-shirt uniforms, etc, are tinpot (which they all absolutely are) then I’m afraid this kind of pettiness is also tinpot. We should be better than that.

The thing that rankles me is that I will have to make a note in the scrapbooks about the failure to mention Palace in the article on the clubs web site as it is a historical fact that future historians may question.

Parish spent literally all summer dragging our club and owners name through the absolute mud based on pretty much nothing we did - we then also has to defend ourselves at CAS at no doubt some expense. Then, Parish allowed his “ultras” to bring in a huge banner committing libel against our owner.

So am I particularly bothered if it was deliberately petty? absolutely not. Compared to what they did to us last summer, I find it a reasonably tame retort based on we have said pretty much nothing on the matter.

The article though isn't about Palace, it's about Glasner, and it is a fact that he managed Palace and won the Trophies with them. If the club has a problem with his past and can't report it then perhaps they shouldn't have hired him.

Who really gives a shit about what Forest wrote in their announcement, it is totally irrelevant to the fact that Glasner has signed a deal with us, thats the important part, we should all be happy about that, some will have reservations of course but we will put those to bed after battering Leeds in the opening game.
I for one am really looking forward to the upcoming season, no one will care what was written after the kick off.
 
If memory serves, Palace did something similar regarding us - it may have been when they signed Brennan? One of their fans mentioned it on X recently. The likes of Hiltco (decent Palace tweeter) have found it funny.

Anyway, what's all this Simpsons business. Are we making an appearance?
 
Given that there is a serious interest in the local pubs and clubs, I was interested to see a report on the TV this breakfast time about a young man trying to do all the pubs and clubs in Britain in his podcast, something like "The Great Pub Crawl".

It suddenly became of interest because I noted in one shot he was wearing a Forest shirt. I suppose, given the interest in the subject, that he is known in the area, but this is the first I've heard about him.

I was weighing up what kind of season Forest need to have for it to be considered successful (and Glasner to keep his job)

Surely EM would expect European qualification through either the league or through a Cup win.

Potentially an upper half finish, with signs of green shoots, would keep him around.

Bottom half without a decent cup run would be seen as a failure imo.

Obviously the transfer window will need to pan out, but this season could be an opportunity considering how many clubs are in Europe and the relative weakness of the promoted teams.
 
Think he gave the target away with the bread and honey comments. He needs to get us back into Europe either through the league or cup.

He'll probably also need to avoid :-
  • A losing run that stretches beyond more than a couple of games.
  • Any kind of falling out, or difference of opinion with the recruitment team
  • Upsetting any players within the leadership group.
Just to ensure EM's trigger finger doesn't get any sort of itch.
 
on the bbc website it has us down as ‘Forest’ im sure it used to say Nottm Forest is this a updated branding I wonder.

It's been brought up before, but it's responsive design - the site can use the full name, or different shortened versions depending on various factors - most notably screen size and font size.

If you open the page on a full browser on a computer, you can bugger about with the window width and see the various team names change as you do.

I asked a similar question a year-or-so ago when.we were listed as "N Forest" and the ladies team merely as "Forest". I was told it's essentially down to the size of device it's being viewed on. Which made perfect sense at the time.

Edit: Just spotted @incident's more technical explanation.
