Having been born in the early 60s there was a time when I was only missing 1 or 2 home league programmes and a handful of always from my then lifetime. I got a few handbooks and Post Football Guides from Peter at the same time, so the 1967 might well have been from him. I think I bought the earlier one much more recently, probably online. (When you’re my age, by ‘recently’ you tend to mean ‘in the last 20 or 30 years’…)

Just reminds me that when I did my tour of the grounds at Dagenham and Redbridge, there was an old guy who had a programme shop in the ground. I popped my head in to say "Hello" as I was being conducted round by a young lady who worked at the Daggers, but actually supported West Ham. Which reminds me, saw the West Ham Ladies at Victoria Road on TV the other day and wondered if she played football for West Ham at that ground; just an idle thought.

The programme man saw me as a keen type and I just couldn't get away as he riffled through his stock looking for Forest programmes. This is what happens when you neet someone who has a passion and, by being polite, thinks you share his passion.

Garnet Oscroft would become Forest chairman in 1955 replacing Jack Brentnall was was appointed as the Forest Chairman in 1948 (the year this was published) and of course Billy Walker the Forest manager.

Yes, manager Billy Walker was very keen to get a supporters’ group going immediately after the war, so it’s no surprise that he became the chairman of the club when it got going. I’ve mentioned in another thread that my dad was one of the supporters involved at the time and had a couple of roles in the club that Walker encouraged. This is one of the many Forest stories I wish I’d asked my dad about while I still could, so unfortunately I know nothing more than that he was one of the names given in a newspaper item IRTD put in the history thread a while back. (If you have a parent with a Forest history, ask them all about it now!)

I’m delighted that the Bridgford End is being renamed after Robbo, but for a long time I’ve felt some part of the ground should be named in honour of Billy Walker. Not only did he manage us from Division 3 (South) to Division 1 and an FA Cup win, but he also did a lot of the groundwork to bring more young, home-grown players into the first team (which bore fruit with the likes of Peter Grummitt, Henry Newton, Ian Storey-Moore and many others) at a time when we weren’t able to spend a lot on transfer fees, as well as engaging with supporters as discussed.

They missed a trick with the new supporters group that started after the war. Members of the original supporters club, back in 1926, painted the A, B and C stands and paid for the popular stand to be reroofed.

Do you think today's supporters club will help fund the new stand. 😜

He doesn't appear to have been on since last November. (Did I get the wrong date?)

He does have a blog here but the Forest stuff seems to end with a tribute to Robbo last December

Well that is patently wrong. In the Premier League last season like us there were 27 occasions that they failed to win at the end of games and they failed to win that competition, the FA Cup and the League Cup this year, but fair dos they did win a trophy and will be in the Europa League next season.

I imagine that next season without Glasner it will be business as usual.

I haven't been to Nottingham in 15 years, and before that, hadn't been for another 9... And I've never felt such a huge, huge desire to just teleport there as during that couple of days. :love:

Winning trophies will bring great joy, even winning the league would

Nothing would top the 20 odd years of relief in one game, and done in such an expected way. And look at all the memories and moments that have followed it so far, the reaction was completely justified.
