Husband says that's not Djebbour and I think I agree with him.

Also, I don't think I can recognise Kapino despite him playing for Panathinaikos for years before his very brief stint with us. He's playing in the Swiss league these days, I read an interview a few weeks ago, enjoying his football there. Good for him, it's much better than the madness that is Greek football.
He played a few times for us when we decided that Pants was getting a bit too soiled for our team and then we brought in the Kosovan Flapper and Samba the summer after. Came in for nothing and we sold him for a decent fee too.

I remember that time. I had actually spent time defending Pants on the Greek fan club FB page against most of the others who actually preferred Muric. Kapino was never going to work out for us, it's obvious that he's not one to handle any sort of pressure. I think it's the Panathinaikos effect. 😂

Everyone thought Muric would be decent because he had come from city on loan and apparently was highly rated by Pep.

After 10 mins of that first league match, everyone knew he was shit, or was blind

Unearthed a copy of the Post from the day when Forest played Notts Co for the cup, back in 2011. It was the one and only time I was in Nottingham since 2002, and unfortunately our friends hate football and had other plans fir us so my husband and I couldn't go to the match... I remember us crossing the Trent Bridge and me watching the fans as they made their way to the CG and being absolutely certain I'd regret not going... We went to a carvery, which was great and everything but I missed a historical game. I haven't been to Nottingham since.

So the riots in Nottingham that night were your fault then!

That Wes goal is still one of my favourite goals I've seen live

Other than that, I just remember texting my brother updates that were mainly about how bad and unorganised we looked, and that McClaren seemed like he didnt have a clue what he was doing

Good days!

Told the story before - during the warm up my lad had his photo taken with Muric. Sent the pic round to my mates - captioned “junior with the next Man City keeper” The shit i got back during the first half when he let them two soft goals in. 😂😂😂

When is your lad signing for City?

I thought it was Benalouane, not Djebbour

Edit: oh that’s Vellios! I was looking for him in the rest of the pic, didn’t realise he was a slaphead nowadays

The draw to determine which group the U21s go into is tomorrow at 2.30.

Group D would be really ideal for us for local games plus I can just pop down to Oakwell for their game at Barnsley.

I'd quite like Group F - local game against the Stags, followed by an absolute meltdown in Huddersfield when our kids beat their first team.
Followed by the team bus setting off a load of fireworks.

Well that was nailed on. Can't have us having away trips to meadow lane, sincil bank and Oakwell

Bugger, I always look out for this competition as a way of ticking off some of the more obscure grounds that I’ve yet to visit.
Of the six left in the northern section, it had to be the most obscure and furthest one away!
Bloody Barrow!

Barrow is located in such a distant, remote and difficult location that they made a decision a few years ago to train in Manchester and consequently struck a deal to train at Manchester at FC United of Manchester's ground.

It enabled them to attract players from much larger populated areas in Manchester and Liverpool and so they didn't have to convince players to commute or move there which was nigh on impossible.

It's in the arse end of nowhere of a place which in itself is the arse end of nowhere.

You can get there with the A590 all the way off the M6 but whilst the first bit around Kendal is a nice dual carriageway the rest of it is country lane style and it's right at the end. Only the A595 up the west coast has more of the feeling of a long distance route which feels like it takes days to go anywhere.

This is the A595 at Grizebeck, remember this is the main route up the west coast from Barrow to Carlisle... https://maps.app.goo.gl/LvE46YNRJ7trkwLy7

Even this bridge from Barrow itself to the Isle of Furness hasn't escaped being totally dull https://maps.app.goo.gl/pM7ms5PYbxR4oRt59

Here's the end of the road by the sea, but again almost totally featureless https://maps.app.goo.gl/f8N4Nn5mWMo2NAGc6

Tried to find the football ground (I'm assuming they still actually play in Barrow) but found myself almost nodding off. Though I think this is one of the places where we initially sent Yatesy when he was a kid

Holker St is here.

I played there once in the 2000's. I'd rather we gave them the win than to have gone there.

I saw one of Forest’s youth teams play at Barrow in 2016-the game ended 0-0 and our young Swedish goalkeeper
looked promising but never made it.

Holker Street was an old school ground surrounded by terraced houses and I remember Forest playing there in the
2nd Round of the League Cup in 1969 (Ian Storey-Moore scored the winner in injury time in a 2-1 win and Sammy
Chapman got sent off with a Barrow player in the first half).
Barrow then left the Football League in 1972 (Hereford were elected in their place) and didn’t return for 48 years.

Former England footballers Emlyn Hughes and Gary Stevens come from Barrow (there is a statue of Hughes
in the town) and I thought Barrow Park was very nice.

That’s a fair old slog to get to a youth team and League Cup game. 👏

I recall the programme for the LC game was one of the harder ones to find when I was trying to get every Forest programme from since I was born.
<<goes and checks>>
So hard, in fact, that I don’t ever seem to have got it.

Oh, and I’m catching up on my When Saturday Comes podcasts and one I listened to this week mentioned that Emlyn Hughes had a son called Emlyn and a daughter called Emma-Lynn.
