Random I know but Neil Webb is looking for a flat/house to rent in Bridgford or Wilford if any of you know have one or know anyone that's letting one out?

The new premier league ball. Puma replacing Nike after 20 odd years.

Arteta will be having a shitfit as it it was the Puma balls he was complaining about last season.

I wonder if the Prem have a team of players gathered from all the Prem clubs to kick these balls about to assess the characteristics or do they just accept the highest bid from a selection of manufacturers.

Arteta is too young to have ever kicked one H, but I can only imagine his reaction to the old lace-up leather case ball which 50-years later I still carry the marks from!
Yes, my dad and grandad talked about these; the weight; and especially when wet, heading was more difficult.

On a serious and sad note, my dad grew up with Jeff Astle, played for West Brom and England, and his early death at 59 was related to lots of heading wet, very heavy, older leather footballs as he was an exceptional header of the ball.

Only real men can remember seeing lace marks on their forehead after heading that wet leather ball!

I'm pleased to say the marks have faded and I still have my marbles, but I always wondered about the scrambled brains after those matches.

Fixed that for you!🙂

When we were kids we found one at home that my dad had when he played in the 50's. We pumped it up, found a new lace and we were ready to go. That was until dad told us we needed to rub it with dubbin first to make it waterproof.
After all that we lasted 10 minutes until we went back to the plastic one. It was like heading a brick.

As well as Jeff, it's undoubted that those footballs account for the early dementia diagnosis and in many cases the far-too-early deaths of players from that era. Training every day and playing hundreds of games had a significant impact.

My dad was diagnosed with Parkinsons in his late 30s. He was a decent centre forward locally who was known for being very good in the air.
No proven evidence but heading those balls regularly for 20 plus years can't have helped.

Joe Kinnear's widow certainly thinks so. And he was a full back, which traditionally isn't a big heading position, imagine what centre backs and strikers would be like.

The new season's fixtures are announced on 18th June.
How soon after do the TV networks announced what games they will be broadcasting and when? Is it a few days? Or a week?

They announce the first weekend's TV fixtures along with the season fixtures on 18th June. The rest of August / September should be announced by first week in July. Our second match will be on the Sunday and the third Sunday or Monday regardless of TV.

Should make them play a match with those ultra light flyaway footballs. I once took a goal kick with one of those and the wind blew it back up and over the goal :D

Thanks.

Let's hope we start at home then.

Sadly next season there will be even fewer Saturday 3.00pm kick offs.
The schedule for all teams is very tight with five midweek fixtures. We also have more teams in Europe whose league fixtures will be affected (including Forest).
My understanding is that with the increased broadcast fixtures only 110 out of 380 PL fixtures will be 3.00pm Saturday kick offs.

Hopefully PL will ensure we don’t clash with Notts County or games at Trent Bridge otherwise we may find more fixtures affected. I’m not holding my breath!!

This is the real price supporters pay for broadcast revenue.

I hate Saturday 3pm kick offs personally

You avoid all parking restrictions on Sunday's & there is always naff all to do on Sunday's anyway.
