Definitely.

It must be a bit of a basterd to get all this done, and then to mess about changing our names and doing all sorts of stuff.

This forum is the best and my most visited website.

I think everyone should donate some money to Stu to help cover the cost of the forum. :)

Exactly, he has done a stirling job in making sure everything works correctly.

I am still trying to get used to it but am sure it will feel just as good as the other one before too long.

Anyway cheers Stu and when I see you I shall buy a pint to thankyou for all your hard work.

Yes I agree, congrats on keeping the board going. I dont know the ins and outs but you more than likely do this in your spare time and dont get paid.

So thanks for the hardwork.

Ages and ages ago (pre 2002) the forum used to be hosted using vBulletin - it's a slick bit of kit. For many reasons (mostly my own inexpertise and rushing as our host unexpectedly pulled the plug on us), I installed a different system which we've been somewhat saddled with for the last seven years.

Whilst it might take a while to iron out all the things folks have encountered, this system is a much better and more stable platform - coupled with moving it away from a server that was being hammered by the content site, we should be in for a much easier time in exchange for this short term hassle.

Well played, Stu!

The old server was really struggling with increased demand and something needed to be done.

Stuc has worked hard to not only get the new server organised but also to get most of the snags sorted out remarkably quickly.

Thanks Stu.

You've put a hell of a lot of work in over the last 3 months to keep this forum functioning and it's appreciated.

(Suggest on Friday night you have a break from it and have a well earned beer or two!)

The other thing that people reading this need to remember is that the cost of this bigger server is more than the previous one.

The forum is funded by a (relatively) small amount of advertising revenue with the bulk of the money coming from member donations - either one off payments or monthly donations to keep the server paid for.

If you appreciate the forum and the work that goes in to it one of the best ways to show this appreciation would be to become a subscriber and give some funds to help keep us going. Even £1 a month will make a big difference, especially if 20 or so new people could come forwards to help.

I'm sure there's a link to the 'how to subscribe' somewhere. If you have any queries on this I'm sure Stuc would help you if you PM him.

Plus of course, being a subscriber does open up other boards and access to competitions and the like.

Yep, just to echo everyone else, Well done Stu, I also used vBulletin for my forum when it was running, nice choice.
