Terry Cooke & Jason Beardsley

Ex Sheep right back Jason Beardsley played for the reserves (or whatever you want to call it) yesterday against Coventry - they released him as requested by him a month or so back, no idea if he is any good.

Also Terry Cooke played, now unless this is an unknown kid, it is ex Man Utd winger?

BILLY Davies today warned that Nottingham Forest's injured players still face a long road to recovery, after James Perch suffered a slight set-back in his return to action.

The versatile defender or midfielder was unable to take part in a friendly match against Coventry City yesterday, after picking up an injury in training.

It is not thought to be a serious problem and it is unrelated to the stress fracture that has sidelined him since the end of last season.

But Davies warns that such minor problems will be par for the course as Perch, Julian Bennett (knee) and even Robert Earnshaw (calf) work to regain their fitness following spells on the sidelines.

"James has picked up a slight injury in training, which unfortunately ensured he couldn't play in the match," said Davies.

"But this is what will happen from time-to-time when you have players coming back from injury.

"Robert Earnshaw has had slight twinges with his calf and Julian Bennett has had a few slight issues as he makes his return from his knee injury.

"This is just what happens when players are out for a little while. When they come back they pick up injuries.

"It is just the way of things, you have to be patient."

Former Manchester United, Manchester City, Sheffield Wednesday and Grimsby midfielder Terry Cook, who had been playing in America with Colorado Rapids, played for Forest in their 0-0 draw against Coventry at the City Ground.

The 33-year-old winger has been training with the club to regain his fitness in recent weeks but Forest are unlikely to offer him a contract.

The match also saw defender Joel Lynch make his return from a bout of food poisoning, amid a young Forest side. Goalkeeper Paul Smith – who made several smart saves – and winger Garath McCleary were the only other senior players involved.

Forest boss Davies has received a written apology from Crystal Palace for any embarrassment caused when a burst of commentary from the official club radio station was accidentally broadcast over the tannoy during Saturday's game.

Commentators accused Davies of 'throwing his toys out of his pram' in the aftermath of seeing Paul Anderson being elbowed by Palace defender Clint Hill.

I wonder who Cooke knows here to get a game?

I played in a friendly for my Sunday team at the weekend to regain some fitness after my injury, do you reckon I can ring Billy and get a run out in the next reserve match? :)

As I said in the friendly match thread, he looked pretty useful. Obviously nowhere near as good as Gunter but wouldn't be bad to have on the books in case of a couple of injuries. Not sure how old he is though?

This was all covered in the thread regards the friendly, no chance of Cooke getting a contract. Beardsley not mentioned by club so may be something in it. BD has apparently said he would like to be able to use Gunter further forward so he could provide cover but you have to ask is he any better than Maloney?

Terry Cooke, what kind of name is that? certainly not a football one! therefore he's no good and won't make it.

He has been incredibly mediocre for the entirity of his career. He played second fiddle to John Oster at Grimsby so that just about sums him up!

Jason Beardsley looked decent when he played for County last season. Nothing spectacular, but he was defensively solid - at that level.

I doubt that you were being sarcastic.
Seeing as you have hard-on's for Bonano, Tank, Audrey and Barthez.
