I got done coming off Nuthall island onto Nottingham Rd recently - I'd not driven that way for a while, meant to take the A6002 off the island but got into the wrong lane and ended up taking the Nottingham Rd exit and did a U turn at the small roundabout on Roland Avenue - apparently it's a bus lane 4.00pm-6.00pm, God know why, probably to catch the unsuspecting like me. £70 fine reduce to £35 if paid in 21 days, thieving b@stards.

I'm saying that ironically, as the sign wouldn't be very visible if you were doing a U-turn at the mini roundabout.
Mind you, Highway code rule 188 does say "Avoid making U-turns at mini-roundabouts", so they wouldn't configure the sign to cover that possibility.

It’s even worse when you live on that estate and completely forget about it

The A610 stretch between Nuthall and Eastwood is probably the worst case of daylight robbery and nothing to do with road safety. There’s barely any traffic on there outside peak times, no pedestrians anywhere near yet they regularly have a speed camera vehicle parked on there lay-by on the corner on the downhill stretch as it goes from 50 to 40mph. Disgusting.
Was told by someone in the police years ago that the speed limit was reduced because a local councillor lived just off there and was fed up of the noise!

It's far from clear when you're coming off the main island in busy traffic, if anything it could present a hazard, e.g. someone sees it at the last second and switches lane, suddenly slows down or stops to avoid it.

I bow to your greater knowledge of the Highway code, however "avoid" isn't the same as prohibited! It's just another scheme to screw the car driver.

Hence why I said I was saying that ironically. 🤷‍♂️

I imagine that's easily done. I used to work around that area, granted it's a few years ago but that part of Nuthall was never very busy even at peak times, don't know why it justifies a bus lane, it's just another money making scheme.

I don't doubt that for a minute!

I remember when that was all 70, probably a contributory factor is queuing for ikea and the M1 junction but then also the section near the M1 doesn't have any form of crash barrier. They should realistically just fit the barrier and put a sensible limit on it - it's a bypass with no junctions (other than the slip road coming off the old road) and 40/50 just feels too slow.

In a sense even the 70mph speed limit on a lot of modern dual carriageways is too low in terms of how it's safe to drive, on a modern dual like the new A453 or A46 if it's not busy it would be (albeit illegal) perfectly safe to do 80 or 90, and the same would apply to a lot of motorway. Don't even start on the lengths of A roads or main roads which have been lowered from 60 to 50 or even 40 but then the tiniest side road coming off them is still 60.

That leads people to believe it's not about safety but about making money and control

I got caught out by that a few years back. Dual carriageway, going away from housing, no junctions/queues. Proper rob job

It happened at that weird time during Covid when everyone was at home except essential workers etc. Again hardly any traffic about.

You just never know which social media channel he'll be posting from next, what a guy.
He's got 3 phones too. That's usually a nailed on drug dealer or someone that is having affairs. In this case he's a premier league player and he's single
