Team Spirit

Has anyone else noticed how the players seem to be generating a wonderful team spirit? A togetherness? It seems like all the lads are playing for each other and know each others game. I watch Chambers, and he is really becoming a bit of a leader, Dawson-esque, in his vocality and no nonsense old school defending.

It's super to see when Chambers scores, all of the players seem to love it - and run to celebrate with him. It's what us fans want to see, a team that cares. Cares when we score a goal, appreciates our support.

I also noticed Joel Lynch kissed the badge after the 89th minute winner at Preston, which obviously dosn't mean the world these days but it was also another indication that maybe behind the scenes we're all as one, and driving forward together.

As a supporter it's all I ask for, a bit of passion, and pride in putting on our famous shirt. I'm beginning to see it. A team that dosn't want to lose to Barnsley at home and will fight til the end, a team that will put themselves in the way of shots and a team that cares when we play our rivals.

It's not been all rosey by any means, but under Davies, we've got a team to be a proud of.

Yeah , team spirit. So much team spirit that the so far this year , in at least 2 games against Barnsley & Preston (and we only played 3) , the entire team as one fall asleep and did not wake up until the 2nd half after Billy Davies shoot a rocket up their collective asses at half time.

I bloody hope that this isn't going to be a habital thing with the team.

It`s nice to hear some positive input, nice one dawg. I believe the spirit has been there for some time!

I have to agree about the team spirit. They all certainly seem to be close to each other.

Considering there are stories knocking around about Moussi being home sick, he is always the first to go and congratulate on a goal or help out if there is a ruck. Whilst that's the on the field antics, he still seems really close with all the lads and I can't imagine him wanting away. But who knows........

They're all lads of a fairly young age, so it's not a surprise there's a good level of team spirit. Most of them seem to be mates outside of football, which isn't always the case at other clubs.

Indeed I think that's a big part if it Col.

Interesting tweet from "Chambo" today that he and Lewis were battered by Chris Cohen and Earnie on FIFA 11.

As with any team or organisation that they have bonded out of work can only be good.

Its really great to see, and really evident on the pitch at times.

It seems the players spend alot of time together off the pitch as well. Cohen, Earnie, Chambers, and McGugan always seem to be playing Fifa and CoD together whilst i've seen a few of the other boys out together on nights out etc

I mentioned this a while back when discussing Bertrand, noting that he celebrates with the other players like he's 'one of ours' and other people have said he looks very comfortable as Forest left back as well.

I think it's down to the sort of characters Billy Davies has brought into the team. There's nobody who sticks out like a sore thumb as being a massive tosser and a lot of them seem like quiet, down to earth guys.

Less just hope a certain Kelvin Wilson doesn't kick up a fuss if he isn't allowed to leave until the end of the season.

the team spirit has an effect on the fans too, there's just something incredibly positive about the club. it's been years since i've felt this proud to support forest, imagine what it would be like if we actually won something, or got promoted.

without wanting to hark on about the past, it was part of clough and taylor's blueprint to ensure they had a close, tight knit squad. they also insisted on having discipline on the pitch, and that's another thing that impresses me about Billy's team. we've got the third best disciplinary record in the championship, no red cards and only 31 yellow this season. you won't be surprised to find that leeds are top of the table with 53 yellow, and 2 reds.

we'll probably win back to back european cups at this rate.

I completely agree with the original post. I think we owe Billy that credit!

Often we see a player of sufficient ability to surpass his equivalent in our squad go somewhere else on a free or for a pittance. The upshot of this thread is probably quite often why. Davies has on more than one occasion said he does his homework on a player's character extensively before making a signing.

Great post. Completely agree with it. The team spirit that is brought on to the pitch really makes me proud to be a Forest fan. The whole atmosphere when we score of not just the fans but the players aswell is awesome and it's great to see how close the players are not just on the pitch but off it aswell.

On the radio after the game on Saturday while they were interviewing a couple of the players, you could hear the other players running through various chants... including "we are the Debry haters, sheep, sheep shaggers!" lol

Way before Davies it was a stated aim of the much derided 'Transfer Aquisition Panel' that they not only investigate a players footballing talent but also his character before making a signing.

Credit to Davies for forging that togetherness and team spirit, but also to the 'Panel' for bringing the right sort of characters to the club for him to be able to do that.

I couldn't see why anyone would deride them for that at least. I can't help but wonder whether in some cases they or Davies might have been overprotective of the team spirit and failed to sign someone who'd be fine and an asset as a result. It is clearly working though, even if one or two slip through our fingers.

Totally agree about the spirit and that Chambers is a big part of that, he always looks so happy to be playing for us and it is great to see that.
