Just been thinking, the most recent times forest have pushed for the prem have been harty's playoffs team, bassets champions and frank clarkes team. Oh and mister clough's team, but for the purpose of this, im excluding them.
How would you think a playoff would go between these three and billy's current team?
Do we have the same star quality now as before? Are we as good?
In short, are we good enough to go up?

I think it would be a great game this current one against the Harty team.

Tight game.

As the team is right now, we'd beat Hart's team at home but struggle away!

With Shorey and McKenna, we'd beat them easily.

I think that Clarkie's team would win, it had some real quality in it. Bassetts team to finish second. Both teams had such awesome firepower it makes Harty's and the current team look tame IMO.

Thats what i was thinking yam.
I wasnt paying attention much to the harty/basset teams, was there much expectation early on in the season?
For me this season has been a total surprise

They'd do for us, I'm afraid - Brennan - Reid - Johnson for the 1-0 win. Our current frontline is f*** all compared to Clarke's as well - that whole team worked as a unit, the current lot simply don't get close to that level of cohesion. Jason Lee could score against Newcastle...

Bassett's team was the best; it won the league in one of the toughest leagues at this level for a long. Van Hooijdonk and Campbell were unstoppable at this level and the team was pretty solid all through.

clarke/basset teams would destroy the current one.

So how about the clough promotion side, not taking into account what they went on to do, but what they were at the time they went up...

Scraped through to promotion - I saw the last game only and at that stage we still needed results elsewehere

I was pretty lucky in terms of being a Forest fan though

First full season I went we won the Championship and went to Wembley and won the League Cup - went to lots of away games as well

The next two we won The European Cup - watched all the European home games but not allowed away

As an 8,9,10 year old i guess it simply doesn't get any better than that

I often wish I hadn't been spoilt like that - if you were a young Forest fan at the time you just took winning for granted

And we were back page headlines of The Sun almost every day - I used to run downstairs every morning to see what Brian had said etc
