He is a CF, he is big and strong and he needs minutes on the field before any such decision is made.

Also, with our desperate lack of firepower, we can't afford to dump a player without replacing him.

We got massively unlucky with the draw this year, got probably the best team in there

If we'd been playing Walsall, Grimsby or Harrogate I dare say we'd still be in it
You just have to look at the easy draws Leicester and Sheffield Wednesday have had so far.

Someone commented on how Cooper's Leicester had got further than us. Hardly bloody surprising.

Cup football is more about the luck of the draw than anything else. This year we were unlucky.

Confidence wise a good measure was his moment yesterday where he got into a 1v1 but didn't fancy the take on, held play a little and looked to play square. Still decent enough play but a fit and firing Awoniyi definitely takes that 1v1 on. He'll get there...

Whilst he was on the pitch, yesterday. The Fulham CBs didn't look at all comfortable.
I agree. I didn't really understand the plan with him and Wood together but out of the two of them he seemed to have the greater impact. Defenders always know they're in a game.

Maybe his pace won't come back, but he's still physically dominant and we know he can finish.

JWP deliveries with him and Milenkovic bouncing around; that is a significant upgrade on last season on paper. Hopefully it's something that they can put in to practice.

His mere presence will ensure defenders can't relax around him but at the moment that's just about all he's offering. There's no genuine goal threat.

He's a shadow of his former self currently.

A goal from slightly better connection when he performed that overhead kick would have been a huge boost to his confidence and belief. I'm still firmly of the opinion that gametime will help him get his mojo back. I just hope it was a bit of fatigue that forced his withdrawal yesterday.

Woods goals output would suggest his significantly more impactful.

How long do we have to give it before we have given him enough time? It's been almost a year now and it looks as though he got injured again yesterday. Sometimes you just have to wipe your mouth and move on.

The obvious answer there is until the January window, and for a squad with only two strikers he'll get beyond that as a squad player.

I mean if there was one team you could absolutely guarantee would knock us out...

I actually thought he looked OK first half today; caused their defence problems

Taiwo's always been a player who needs a run of games to get going so I'm not writing him off yet

But yeah you'd have to go back to the start of last season for the last time he was on top form
That line about run of games is why I'm questioning it. I just don't see him ousting Wood (and it'd be undeserved) for long enough to get going.
He's a really good player for us on his day but it's been months since it was his day.

That's why I don't see it anymore.

I thought they did, to be honest, especially given they were playing against two up top.

Maybe others saw it differently but Taiwo looked distinctly off it and really didn’t cause any trouble at all bar an overhead kick.

I’m his biggest champion when he’s firing but it’s 12 months since we have really seen it.

As for him needing a run of games. Can we really afford him that?

Do you drop Chris ‘goal machine’ Wood and hope Taiwo puts it together? Play the two of them (which looked awful yesterday)?

How many games do you give him? 3? 6? 10?

I absolutely love him but I just don’t think we are ever going to see that unplayable beast again in a Forest shirt. If he doesn’t put it together quickly I think he’s gone in January and the club invests in a new striker.

If T has 'lost it' to the extent that some believe he has, I'm genuinly intrigued as to how we actually "move him on" then?

I agree with this but he should be getting 30 to 35 minutes to just blast around no holds barred. Whatever the game situation that should benefit us and will keep Wood fit.

To be fair, it’d need a bulldozer, he’s a big lad.
