Taiwo Awoniyi

Fee being reported as £9m now.
I thought we had done very well to get £17m.....

Modern hero for us keeping us up in that first season and always giving 110%.
£9m seems about right. I think anything above £5m is classed as profit with SCR.

I am worried. The club makes exit interviews.

This is too "Welcome to Wrexham" for me, really.

I'll miss you, T., you gave me a big moment when watching you against Arsenal and when those two hit home against Chelsea.

All the best. I still have no idea why you were sold.
Its good content.

T is a good news story.

He comes from humble beginnings, played a big part in keeping us up, battled through a fair bit of personal adversity and is universally loved by his team mates.

I think its a good move for all parties but its ok to be sentimental about football sometimes.

What an amazing and humble human being. The memories from that season will last a life time, and my personal favourite was that equaliser against Chelsea away. Me and my brother clear as day sprinting down the steps towards the advertising boards as he nodded it home from a Mangala chip. I hope he smashes it at Cov and gets back into the Nigeria squad as he thoroughly deserves it. Best of luck T.

I think it speaks volumes of his character that after just 4 years at a club he’s had the impact on players, staff, fans etc that he has obviously had. This sort of farewell is pretty much unheard of these days.
Regardless of what you thought of him as a striker, I think we could all learn a lot from his example as a person, given the trials he faced over the last couple of years.
Thanks Taiwo, god be with you (y)

Thanks for everything Taiwo. Will always be a cult hero for Forest fans for many years to come. I wish you well because you seem a genuine, likeable man.

Good deal for Forest, Taiwo and Coventry.

Actually will miss hearing his chant.

Seeing The Big Man in 'Ex Players' hurts my soul. 🙁

I have moved many former players to the „Ex-Players“ section, and in many cases I have taken delight in so doing.

But I take absolutely no pleasure at all in moving this thread ☹️

Sometimes we’re guilty of judging players just from what they contribute on the pitch. Big T contributed a lot but maybe even more off the pitch. I wish him all the best wherever he plays.
The amount of community projects he showed up at, even putting his own money into, is a sign of a fantastic human being as much as anything. Showing up at events when injured, being there for his team mates (just the Elanga and Aina snippets alone show bits of that), and everything else, makes you realise what he meant to people. The MGW bit summed him up.
