Taiwo Awoniyi

i think the pic sums it all up beautifully - look at every player's face. Smiles all round...

I can’t think of any Forest player whose departure stirred the emotions that Taiwo’s has, with fans and teammates alike.

He’s been such an important part of our story in the last four seasons and such an enormously likeable guy.

MGW summed it up really well. We’ll miss him, and don’t really want him to go, but he deserves a chance to play and enjoy his football.

Thanks for everything Taiwo and go and smash it at Cov.

Feels dirty seeing him in Coventry shirt - all the best big lad and thanks for the memories. Rare that a player achieves cult hero status these days in such a short space of time but it's an accolade I'm happy to throw around for him.

Farewell, Sweet Prince…

It broke my heart seeing this in the "ex players" section.

Even Marinakis put out a statement about him going. The outpouring shows just how universally loved he was. It's rare you get a player like that.

I am worried. The club makes exit interviews.

This is too "Welcome to Wrexham" for me, really.

I'll miss you, T., you gave me a big moment when watching you against Arsenal and when those two hit home against Chelsea.

All the best. I still have no idea why you were sold.

He's maybe a bit clumsy, awkward, not the greatest technician and it didn't always click for him but when it did he was able to produce some magical and hugely important moments for us. There will be a quiz question in years to come about who scored the first premiership goal on our return to the top-flight (and scored the goal that kept us up in the same season).

There were some memorable goals alongside that "shinner" for the first Forest goal back in the Prem; the goal against Liverpool that season, that hook volley on the turn against Southampton; the goals against Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U, the unreal one where he it took under control and turned in one movement from a pass from Dominguez against West Ham, that one against Brentford last season and then the parting double against Chelsea just because it's Chelsea and why not...

A warrior, he gave 100% all the time, a humble gentleman with a heart of gold and always smiling and lighting the place up. He had his setbacks, what happened against Leicester is almost beyond belief - but he battled back and you can see his family and his faith in God carries through all the darkest of moments.

A cult hero, who will be always loved, remembered and appreciated for his time here and all the great memories and smiles he has shared with us. Big T, thank you for everything - you played a major role in getting this club to where we are.
