So far, not many then. Early days for all our contemporaries then, I reckon. When I update the list, I'll trim out all the minor and major unbolded entries up to the new day's lists.

Mods feel free to do the same if I haven't.

I'd say it's debatable whether any of them other than Boyd are better than what we have.

Middlesbrough are looking quite strong though.

I don't think Boyd would have ever wanted to come to us. Sharpe would have been nice but in theory we do have about 6 strikers so really no need.

Boyd is going to tear this league apart. If Boro put a half decent team behind him then I reckon they'll win the league. I'm certainly gonna have a cheeky bet on them.

Agree. I can only hope the curse of 'Boro strikes, and they are somehow useless again this season.

I think Ross Wallace should be highlighted.
The few times i saw him on the box last season he looked excellent.

We missed out on Neil Mellor, Matt Tubbs and "The Good Doctor" Kenny Deucher.

Sack the transfer panel. Bunch of blundering idiots. When will this club ever learn....

So really, there's only Boyd that stands out so far, and he's signed for a recent Premiership team half as far from his home as Nottingham who can pay him from their parachute payments and is managed by a Scot whilst now playing alongside a good few. So not a likely target.

Arguably Miguel Vitor on loan from Benfica could be a real talent but that's a Sousa-led thing, so again not a realistic one we've missed out on.

So really it's Wallace, Dorman and Bailey, and none of these three would be a first choice over a Pratley or a Whittingham, but they might have been a second or third option for us. We'll never know of course, but as per the point of this thread we're not seen a single facepalm inducing failed opportunity so far, in fact there's been precious little activity amongst our contemporaries.

I reckon Boyd would have been a good signing but I doubt we could offer the wages he was after. Other than that no one stands out as being a missed opportunity.

Belhadj... didn't know he'd moved and to Qatar as well!

Ross Wallace has always impressed me when he's played against us. Thought we should have tried for him last summer.

Unattached appear to be losing far too many players. I really fear for their season.

Boyd won't do shit, he won't get the service and will be up against better players than he's used to.

Generally a good finisher is a good finisher whatever level or league they play in. Get them chances and they score goals.

Agreed. Like a certain Bobby Earnshaw ;)

Matt James who has gone on loan to Preston from Man Utd is a very good young player, I'd love to see him at the City Ground.

Although similar to the Vitor thing, it's the Ferguson connection that has taken him to Deepdale.

You're right, looking at that list it's fairly slim pickings so far.

Updated as far as today, only five players coming into Championship sides. Still no clear and upsetting 'ones that got away'.

I'll start trimming out the irrelevant players from the list once I do another update.
