Summer 26 Transfer Window

I think that's the plan and to get him in early and playing regular at Oly.

Hopefully we still have MGW and he becomes the second No10 with him.
With our buinsess model we have to sell one big player per year and MGW not signed a new contract and having 18 months left. I cant help but feel the inevtible next year but thats where we are as a club.

Well the boss disagrees with the dooms brigade, although I suppose he is just playing politics after everyone worried about him spontaniously combusting because he is too honest.

Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner on how his squad looks after the transfer window: "I'm very happy and very pleased with how the transfer window went. We wanted to reduce the number of players and also adding quality players with top character. I think we achieved everything."

We’ve clearly got headroom with our finances now. I’d say the first option to generate income would be shipping out the players currently on loan. Hopefully they has strong seasons at those other clubs.

Well the club actively tried to replace the goalkeeper at least twice over the last week so who knows how happy he really is.

I'm guessing that only happens if the manager wants it to.

Yes, but his comments went further to say - Glasner said on Thursday: “I must be the first manager who helped Mr Marinakis save money. We had one or two more targets but we couldn’t get the deals done for different reasons. The transfers we did do were prepared well and we identified the profiles that we wanted.

“I completely trust the players we have and it’s not about adding a player in a rush. It’s now about creating a common way of playing and a good spirit in the dressing room. To achieve this it’s important we have consistency and when you’re adding 10 new players all the time, how can they all get to know each other?

“Let’s save the money now and if we believe there are things we can do in January then we are 100 per cent prepared.”

To me it sounds like Glasner is happy with the players we signed, would’ve liked one or two more but wasn’t going to allow the club to spend big on a fourth choice who’s crap once our main targets were knocked back.

In the past we probably would’ve just signed any old CM if the manager wanted one even if said player was dead last on the list. It’s good that the club seem to fully trust the managers judgement so let’s hope he repays the trust.

Agree.

Glasner has already set expectations for this season too, which does take away the desperate push for immediate success. I guess we all have to buy into that and take the rough with the smooth.

Sounds like we have plenty of scope to do business in January, which is a very useful position to be in.

Absolutely definitely unhappy.

He clearly wants out doesn't he.

Surprised he even lasted the press conference.
I'd imagine the truth is somewhere in the middle. Managers notoriously usually want 'just one more'.

Is he happy with the squad? Sure.

Would he like more quality? Of course.

Both things can be true.

Ah. I see. It's just that unfortunately you unintentionally always seem to phrase it in a way that makes it seem as if he's not happy and there is discord.

The piece in the telegraph that I saw earlier was interesting, we'd tried for Harrison Armstrong in January plus earlier this summer, and we'd also been trying to sign Anderson for a year when getting him. Also raving about how good Delap looks in training.

Sounds like we'll probably try for Bergvall or Armstrong again in January.
Or we might be looking for a similar profile to Armstrong or the lad from Liverpool within the PL. Only need to get a bite on one of those, much like the Anderson deal. Bit of luck and the right circumstances.

Absolutely just corporate bullshit to say "Well, we've kept our powder dry for January."
We all know that any mid season signings come at a huge premium it they are available at all.

Thats true, but it's also true that if the right person becomes available we have the money and squad place to act

I'm really liking the position Mr Marinakis has got us into. So many layers of building, it's glorious.

And after his 20 minute run out against the scouse, Delap is suddenly looking like coup (admittedly no results yet).

I came to say the same thing. He's had really good reviews from Oly fans. I think he scored the other night too.
I know YouTube "scouting" videos are not reliable, but he has a hint of Kaka about him. If he turns out to be even half as good as Kaka, we've signed a real player there.

Why do some people have to twist everything into a negative? We know that managers are generally not shy to say when they want more signings. Let me see if I can come up with any relevant examples... Oh yes, Nuno at Nottingham Forest, exactly one year ago. Any more? Oh yeah - Oliver Glasner at Palace, exactly one year ago.

Yep, I think he likes the difference between us and palace. At palace they would sell but then never really replace well. He knows that if he wanted someone we would end the window with them or someone very similar in the squad.
