Summer 26 Transfer Window

Would extend his career by playing at the back.

Like Clough did with Dave MacKay.
And of course, Kenneth Burns, who was a striker before he came to Forest.

Look at this happy clapper talking about our summer transfer business

: "I'm very happy and very pleased with how the transfer window went. We wanted to reduce the number of players and also adding quality players with top character. I think we achieved everything."

Deluded guy. He doesn't understand that we have not shown any ambition
Whoever this is he clearly hasn't looked closely enough to see the absolutely obvious MASSIVE hole we have in midfield.

I'm in the camp that this has been a good well considered transfer window, seemingly in-line with what our new manager wants.
Did we get everyone we wanted? Obviously we didnt by the deals that we saw fall through (eg Armstrong). However we didn't then see a knee jersey reaction of bringing below standard players in instead which I see as a massive positive, and a sign of a maturing recruitment team strategy.

We also saw a lot going out (mostly loans). I'm particularly pleased that Abbott is getting a chance to play more football as I would love see an improved and more experienced Abbott playing in a Forest shirt again in the future!
I think the squad we now have is a good one and we have financial room to try again to fill the gaps/improve quality in January.

Am now very excited to see how our squad develops and improves as the season goes on..

COYR!!

This 'knee jersey reaction' of yours, is that anything like a knee-jerk reaction? We need to know.

Or have you been at the cooking sherry again? I've told you about that before.

We'd lose a lot from Ryan playing in defence. His attacking contribution, like most things about him, is underrated.
I agree, but the thing we always have to remember about stuff like that is that it's not forever, it's just when needed.

Like when Nigel played at the back for us. It's not ideal, but sometimes it's all you need to win matches.

On the suggestion OG will try and transform Yates to a CB--I think this actually makes a lot of sense. He's got all the basic ingredients to be a solid CB.
I don't disagree, but do y'all remember how he likes to give away random free kicks just inside our half, to break play? If he plays in central defence, he has to cut off that habit, as we can't afford him doing that. :ROFLMAO:

Has Glasner ever said Yates could play centre back or is that one of these things people say so many times they start to believe it's true.

LOL OK that damn autocorrect, I've edited it now.

Sorry Dad, I wasn't listening again...

I do seem to miss these automated corrections when on the sauce.... ;-)

How bad was Evertons transfer window, well please, please let this story be true - let it happen, would be so funny to see this -From BBC Website -

Everton are considering a move for Jamie Vardy, 39, after failing to sign a striker on transfer deadline day, with the ex-England forward available after leaving Cremonese. (The Sun, external)

Midfielders playing in defence, attacking wing-backs, a fluid front-three?

Rinus Michels and Johan Cruijff are applauding from football heaven.

If Wifried Zaha's still available, I'd get him and make him train with the B Team just for EM to p*ss off the Palace ultras even more.

Indeed-my Derby friend reckons Mackay was the key signing which allowed Derby to gain promotion to the 1st Division in 1969.
A great friend of mine was at Forest many years ago doing the corporate stuff and Mr Clough sat at Andy's table for about 30 minutes. Andy plucked up courage and asked Cloughie if he could ask him a question to which Brian said " Certainly young man " which made Andy so happy as he'd been called young man by the great man. " What's the best signing you ever made " Mr Clough didn't even think before he replied " Dave Mackay"

The piece in the telegraph that I saw earlier was interesting, we'd tried for Harrison Armstrong in January plus earlier this summer, and we'd also been trying to sign Anderson for a year when getting him. Also raving about how good Delap looks in training.

Sounds like we'll probably try for Bergvall or Armstrong again in January.

It's interesting (and good) to see that we were actively trying to sign targeted players early in the summer, and again later when we couldn't get the deal done early.
Even better that we seem prepared to wait rather than pay over what we consider is a reasonable fee.
We seem to be getting more structured.

As with every other media outlet- article also confirms again that we've signed Gustavo Sa rather than Olympiakos. Looks like the club have doubled down on admitting that he's a Forest player in all of their own recent website articles, so assume we'll just announce we've signed him from Oly next summer.

Transfermarkt says we signed Sa for £20 mill and Oly fans are raving about him https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nottingham-forest/transfers/verein/703
