I was doing some scouting at the Chesterfield game last night and they happened to be playing Gillingham which is where Sillah has just gone on loan.

He was largely let down by the rest of his team yesterday, Gillingham were absolutely shocking, especially in the first half, it looked like a pub team playing against a professional side. On Sillah, he showed the technical qualities you'd expect of an elite club academy player but it's not enough and some of the negatives are expected. He really struggled against the physicality of league 2 defenders, a little too predictable and was therefore dominated in and out of possession.

Early days, the lad is talented alright and that's what these loans are for, plus Gillingham were absolutely shite all over the park.

All this ranking and rating of transfer windows gives people something to click on and talk about for the next few days but it's utterly meaningless really. Especially fans of different clubs arguing amongst themselves who's "won" the transfer window. Total bollocks. Only really meaningful to even begin evaluating last summer's business, let alone a bunch of players in new situations who in many cases haven't even played a minute yet.
 
Transfer window over, back to the reality of the PL.
Personally think we have had a good window after OG had time to look at all of the players and see which ones he wanted.
Think he has done exactly what Forest need right now which is to have a sort out, bearing in mind how he wants to play.
Really liked that the club tried to get the Everton lad, straight in with a large offer, reckon we will see more of those types of deal over the next few years.
We have a very decent base of players now, our first objective is to steer away from the relegation area, after that look to see if we can gain any ground on the upper half of the table which would be an excellent season. Obviously to qualify for Europe must be the long term goal but we still need a few more quality players in the next summer window along with some more sorting out.

One point is that if OG can get McAtee playing well there is no reason that he can't do that with the likes of Kali. If he can he will have earned his wages for this season and started the much needed stabilty.

I guess clubs have figured out that they can all keep buying and selling so long as they keep the fees high for each other. Eventually someone will be left holding the can when the music stops and the PSR gremlins will come for them.

Great point. If we see players like McAtee and Ndoye play anything like they did against Liverpool over the majority of the season, Glasner's essentially got £60-90-sih million worth of players for nothing this window.

Understandable assessment apart from Munoz who has a proven track record but the doubt remains due to his recent injury.
I’ve not heard many positive comments from outside Forest regarding what we’ve paid for Delap and that’s for him to silence the critics.

Like I say, even doing it for last summer's transfers is a bit futile. e.g. in our case maybe McAtee and Kalimuendo etc might end up being worth more than we we paid for them, maybe (probably?) not. The point is we still don't know for sure. The way the market is going they could end being "worth" more without even getting much better. It's just bonkers.

I wonder what the lasck of signings has done to OG's morale.
In his last interview he referred to 2 or 3 new players that would be signed before the window closed.
If he does take his bat and ball home, and lose the £13 million salary by resigning, then Munoz might well be a bit of a white elephant.
I don't really see OG as a quitter though, £13 million per year is a lot to give up.
In that case Munoz signing is one of the best deals done.
 
Think the problem for Glasner at Palace was less getting lots of shiny new toys on deadline day and more having half his first team sold out from under him. That at least hasn't happened here. I'd certainly hope he's smarter than Nuno and Jacob bloody Murphy isn't a hill he's prepared to die on like Adama Traore apparently was for Nuno.

Players we already have will improve & some may decline, it is the nature of football & the reason we hired Glasner is to get more out of players we have.

It does make me laugh where people snarl at our squad players of last year like they will be permanently rubbish, then in the same breath they will want to be more like Brighton who have a pathway of young players. McAtee could easily be one of our best players this season based on what we have seen so far & in pre season, the sort of thing other clubs would get praised for based on long term planning. We should back what we have got as this has paid off before when fans would do nothing but moan about them.

Also, it is worth noting - fans' judgements of transfer windows at the end of them are always laughably bad & normally aligned with how many players we bring in. I remember loads of people moaning about 24/25 summer window that we haven't done enough & - we plugged a massive hole in the side with Milenkovic & in central midfield with Anderson. That's all we really did to the first team. Last season we signed a boat load to add depth & it was deemed as a fantastic window.

They key thing is I don't think this squad has any clear weakness we haven't addressed, the big one for me was probably someone that is a naturally attacking fullback & a striker, we got both. The rest of the squad is more than good enough, I think people are searching for a dopium hit of a transfer rather than actually needing them.

I unsubscribed to it recently. It still has a lot of quality, but like everything else at the minute, it seems to be going down the pan of "not really bothered about facts or substance, just get the clicks in".

It's been crap for ages, half the journalists there are so pompous.

The big names they have there like Dan Taylor & Ornstein are good, but the ones outside of that are rubbish. Nick Miller is the worst one.

Bless him but Paul Taylor is dull as dishwater.

Good enough for what though exactly? It all depends on what the internal expectations are I suppose.
 
Well nice to have a mostly calm board, to see a proper melt down pop over to Evertons forum.
Their fans have been toxic for years, and having a proper kick off.
Ended the transfer window in a worse situation, a few injuries and a loss of form and watch the explosion
 
I reckon it was a reasonably sensible window in all fairness.

We got some decent (hopefully) players in that the manager clearly wanted. We cleared out ones (mostly on loan) that he didn't fancy. We haven't brought randomly just for the sake of it. OK, we didn't get a like for like replacement for Anderson - but that would have been extremely difficult to do. Also, we've changed manager and are setting up differently tactically, so can hopefully negate that. Don't get me wrong, Anderson would work great in how we've been setting up (he's a class player, hence the price tag) but we've bought decent players in with the money we got for him. Early days, but McAtee has been shown a bit of love and got the faith of the manager and looks to be thriving in the role he's been asked to play. Diomande we haven't seen much of yet, but by all accounts is highly rated. Schlager on a free, if he settles well (I think he will, seems level headed) is a good bloke to have around and Delap has a lot of potential. I reckon we'll see him thrive this year. Munoz has been playing well for 2 years at Palace, knows what Glasner wants from him and will do the job well, and at the very least, keeps Ola on his toes

Yes, I'd have liked more - but then we always do, it's just human nature. Another left footed CB, a midfield monster and some pace up front would have been gravy, but I think we're at the point now where we should be looking at "is he better than what we have in that position?" rather than cover or bodies to fill a squad. Every window now should be to improve the first XI or replace a sale.

I could also be talking shite, but we'll find out over the next few months

More a case of reinforcing and widening the gap for the Sky 6. As if it needed this.

According to AI, since 1992, the 'Sky 6' have won 139 domestic trophies (league title, FA Cup, League Cup) with just 16 won by other teams - 4 of the 16 were won by Leicester.

Can someone explain to me why the 3 promoted clubs won’t fall foul of FFP/PSR ?
I can’t see what’s different to what we did after promotion that caused us to be punished?

I always have a problem with Spurs as members of the sky 6 - If you take them out it hardly changes, I think they have won 2 league cups in that period.

Obviously the rules have changed since we were charged but ultimately it will depend on Wages. Our transfer spend wasn't the problem, it was that we ended up with something like the 10th highest wage bill in the league as well.
