It's early to begin the thread but I've already seen a few links in the last few days.

The latest one is this young 17 year lad called Honest Ahanor from Atlanta. Predominantly a CB but he can also play LB. Some succession planning at play here although he has broken into the Atlanta team this year.

Sounds interesting. In the short term (seeing as this kid is not yet 18) I would prefer us to go for Valentin Gomes as the successor to Murillo.
 
Might have been mentioned elsewhere, but saw a rumour we're going to bid £17.5m for Tzolakis, the Oly keeper. Lots of other clubs interested too apparently.
 
The summer will be a tough window.
I am resigning myself to 3 key departures.
MGW & Anderson are strongly linked with Man City (£75 million and £100 million respectively), and I expect Murillo to be destined either for Liverpool or chelsea.
I hope the media rumours are wrong, but I doubt they will be.

Or we stay up win the Europa and they’re all here for a crack at the champions league next year!

That would be nice, but I think compliance with PSR is going to force our hand with at least one of the 3.
Logic says Anderson will be a certainty, but who knows what EM promised MGW to get him to stay whn the Spurs thing was rumbling away last summer.
However, I don't know if there will be enough clear profit in a sale of MGW - if there was a profit share to Wolves in the agreement, it might just leave us with not quite enough in the pot to avoid a points deduction.
Murillo is an interesting one as he was signed on a long contract, and the purchase price was relatively small.
Again, there is probably a profit sharing clause in the contract when we signed him.

Suspect you’re right with one going to satisfy the PSR gods (can’t have anyone challenging the sky 6 you know!). But in my scenario I wouldn’t put it past the big lad to do a bit of wheeler dealing around the edges - £17 morato, £25 for the French striker, couple more fringe players for more than we expect etc.
 
Can’t remember where I saw it earlier this week but it mentioned Newcastle looking at Omari - PSR deal with Elanga to help us both again?

You'll find several posts from me somewhere since the start of the season saying Newcastle bought the wrong winger and Hutchinson was a much better fit for them.
 
Because of how our seasons keep panning out, we always seem to end up preparing for two completely different scenarios. That can’t make it easy to properly focus on going hard after transfer targets when there’s so much uncertainty.
  • 2022 – 29th May – Won the play-off final. Until that day, we didn’t know whether it was another year in the Championship or promotion to the Premier League.
  • 2023 – 20th May – Beat Arsenal to mathematically secure Premier League survival.
  • 2024 – 19th May – Beat Burnley to confirm safety on the final day (even if realistically we were safe the week before).
  • 2025 – 25th May – Lost to Chelsea and missed out on the Champions League. We only knew from 11th August that it would be Europa League rather than Conference.
Every year it feels like we’re going down to the wire - either for promotion, survival, or Europe.
It would be nice, just once, to know by January that we’re comfortably mid-table and can properly plan for the next season, instead of scrambling through June and July trying to prepare for multiple possibilities.

I just wish we'd stick to the plan of buying three to four quality players every window.

I know it's not always easy in January, but I wish that our summers wouldn't be like the summer that's just gone where we're adding absolutely shed loads of players and having to integrate them all and not reserving any real money for the January window either so we can adapt if we need to.

Honestly, this year, some folk have been constantly focusing on the managers, and it just goes to show you how easily led and Sky Sports brainwashed some football fans are because the real issue has always been this summer's recruitment and the general club philosophy and direction. Sort that first and we'll be a much more progressive club.
 
Assuming we stay up and don't win the Europa, the most consistent outcome, it'll still be another mental one I reckon. We'll need to look at:

- replacements for Murillo, MGW, Anderson
- if Wood is done we probably need two strikers to go along with Jesus
- more fullback depth
- upgrading Morato
- goalkeepers if Ortega and Gunn leave
- potential replacements for Bakwa/McAtee/NDoye if we give up on any of them

To be fair to the club, we needed bodies in to cover the Europa League. We just got the wrong type of bodies.
We needed experienced back ups to cover our first choice players to prevent fatigue. We bought potential and paid over the odds for it.
 
Wonder if we'll finally go back in for Vlahovic now he's free in the summer? Harry Wilson would be an upgrade on anyone we have out wide, can see Everton going for Stones to replace Tarkowski, but wouldn't mind him as a short time Murillo replacement. Guess it all depends on if our manager is Glasner, Silva, Pereira, Mourinho, Southgate, King Billy, Gary Rowett etc etc....

Such a big summer no matter what league we're in, it could solidify us in the Prem for a decade or it could see us get double relegated and back in League One.
