Summer 2003 Revisited...........

After a great season like 2003 we were hoping for the club to strengthen the side to ensure the club can move forward. But no even though the Premiership called for Scimeca he left,Brennan Lester Hjelde these player never replaced. So by August the side only had Sonner,Gunnarsson and Stewart as new player and neither were any good.Summer 2010 the club is on a high after a good season where we finished 3rd but lost in the play-offs. So in the close season we are linked with good player to ensure the clubs progression but the reality is Davies is having players sold behind his back and nothing concrete is happening re the buying of players even though it's still early.

But watching that video of BD he seems pissed off that he has given a list to the AP and it looks like he is doing his best but with one hand tied behind his back.i'm a stong believer that the manager should run the playing side of things from top to bottom. Thats signings both buying and selling tactics and training. Ok THe AP is there due to mistakes in the past but this bloke has a track record second to none in this League and the club should notice that with a bit of ambition the club can make that step up to the promise land.

The more i look at it the club looks content staying in the Championship and not overly keen on matching BD ambitions of taking the club into the top fight. Doe to the fact of increasing the budget etc etc. Before we know it the AP will take BD to the limit and he will resign we all know he moans and the interviews are mirror images but he says it how it is and that never occured with Calderwood.

Just hope the AP is abolished to ensure we progress or we will fall back in terms of progression if we don't strengten like we did in 2003,2004,2005 where we faced 3 years of League One football.I'm not saying give BD the world but give him the right budget to ensure the team is making progression without bankrupting the club.

Its not knee jerk reaction, its just my general opinion on the events at Forest with what we hear and what BD has said in the interview.

Last season no-one seemed to mind about the AP. We all expected to shift some deadwood this closed season, Perch was one many members of this forum stated they would like to drive him to another club himself. We got somewhere between £1-1.5 million pounds for him, which is more than we would have ever expected for Perch. It;s obvious every player has their price, and Billy stated he had given a list of players who could be moved on for the right price. As Newcastle met the price for Perch, did Billy really need to be consulted for his approval?

I also think, allow Billy complete control of transfers and the result is...

Lets wait till the end of the transfer window, see what we have, what we have lost and then can make a fair judgment on things. Until then everyone just calm the f**k down and enjoy the summer sun you gloomy buggers

If perch was truly sold without davies' consent he will be gone by monday. If you're in his position you simply don't stand for that. My guess is he won't be as he is just trying to deflect criticism away from himself (mistakenly in this case I believe as most fans were at best ambivalent toward perch).

Every club has an AP. They may not call it such but do you really believe that the Chairman, Chief Scout and Money guy are not consulted before any club buys a player? I'm pretty sure that even Ferguson has to check with his CEO and CFO before he lays out the readies, even if they just rubber stamp it.

My big worry is that everyone is building pratley up to be more than he is.

Most people have only seen him play 1 game against us, but we seem to think hes the next big thing and will single handedly take us up.

We need more than Pratley to take us up,Desperate for CB back up and Left back positions.

Summer 2003? I can't remember that far back! Back in the days before our overlord Stuc took control of LTLF. :D

Fair enough.
I'm a strong believer that in the modern game the old fashioned idea that the manager should rule everything at the club like some appointed monarch is totally outdated. These days the manager should be in charge of tactics and the day to day running of the team. The TAP should be in charge of signing and selling players.
Nottingham Forest have begun to rise again since Nigel Doughty realised this simple truth.

So far we've sold perch and used the money to pay for raddy, now I maybe drunk but is half this forum on their periods? There is no parallel at all right now, sure it's upsetting to lose our scapegoat but we've finally got a player in who has a mullet! How is that bad business? I'm pretty sure the season doesn't kick off tomorrow and I'm also sure the only real quality player we've missed out on is boyd. Now unless the forum wants to sponsor him for around 25k a week I suggest we get a grip!
