Didnt know if this has been mentioned but this season teams will be able to name 7 subs, with only 3 allowed to enter

seems good

There's a related article here.

Apart from allowing clubs to boost the transfer value of their 3rd string by naming them as part of the first team squad a few times blood their youngsters, which they can do anyway with the 5-sub allowance that used to exist, I can't really see any benefit to doing this.

Some clubs will, when injuries hit, struggle to name 18 players...plus all these players will doubtless want something approximating first-team pay packets.....

Don't like it. It will only benefit the bigger clubs, as it enables them to keep 18 players involved on a match day, and encourages them to stockpile players so that they can have a larger choice on the bench.

Go back to five (at most), with the ability to use 2 outfield subs and 1 keeper sub.

I think this means we need to build a new stadium as the current dug-out isn't big enough!

This seems a bit of a nonesense. Can you imagine not having enough cover from the current arrangement. And besides and club who can'd find 22 players who have the ability to play a 90 minute football match should consider themselves rubbish at what they do.

I remember there was a point in the eighties when AC Milan said they had around 75 players available for the first team.

It's not difficult to provide cover for 11 players from an additional 5 on the bench.

They should be made to name a goalkeeper on the bench too.

Teams that don't really inhibit goalkeeping development, as breaking through goalkeepers don't get a chance to even mingle with the first team if they're not considered for the bench.

I know when they originally increased the number of susb from 2 to 3 the requirement was that one of them was a 'keeper.

I wasn't aware they'd repealed that regulation....
