Could we get a striker that puts his laces through the ball please? When was the last time we had one that can blast it?
S. V. Collymore.

Honestly don't know what people see in Delap.

I agree with Rzar- he's absolutely shite.
I can only assume that those that rate him do not actually watch him & are basing it just on his track record. He is dreadful. He was dreadful for Ipswich, he's been even worse at Chelsea. Only a fool would sign him after doing any scouting on him (see Chelsea).

Carlton Morris got 11 goals for Luton in the PL, he must be good? Right?

Agree... I don't think anyone that actually watched him could see a single reason for signing him. He's shite and is the most obvious example of how academy graduates from cartel clubs steal a career based purely on the association with the club.

Taiwo was a handful again today. I'd definitely be keeping him and think we'd be paying £30m for a replacement of similar standard.

I'm annoyed because I'd written it out just before he scored then got distracted and had to add the caveat about the screamer 😄
I was thinking similar - looks a good all round player. That said though with Wood and Igor I don’t think we have a need for that type of striker.

I’d love Summerville though

Summerville is not coming here, there will be far bigger clubs after him and Bowen. Can see West Ham struggling next season, and just a matter of time before Nuno stabs them in the back.
Have no idea which striker will come in, but expecting a left field signing that no-one has mentioned.
It is going to be so hard with the World Cup getting anyone in soon, which is why I think West Ham are going to have problems. They will have to sell before buying and the players they want will be hoping to get a club in a higher league. Really bad time to go down, and we all know how Nuno feels about not getting all the players he wants in the pre-season

I get the point but who though? He isn’t going top 6, so perhaps Spain but not sure we’d be out the picture with many others

Yeah I agree with @The Frog, clubs in the middle classes like ours will be the options for Summerville & Bowen

Bowen hasn't scored since January, lots of assists mind you - but Bowen is 29 & thus fits the recruitment profile of few clubs. I could see him staying at West Ham to be honest, but I could totally see someone like us, Villa or Fulham going in for him.

Not sure Summerville will have the demand he would have had a few months ago. He basically contributed for a month this season - almost certainly the interest won't be from anyone above the middle class clubs.

Was thinking along the lines of Demirovic from Stuttgart (but, that'll upset Strummer ;)),

Get out.

The VfB paid 20m € for him, and now will have Champions' League money to come, so it will cost a pretty penny to tempt the striker.

Not saying it's not possible, but frankly, unlikely. He is a proper "old school" target-man.

Delap loses ball > Delap deliberately trips/pushes player over that dispossessed him > Dropped for 5 games > Repeat.

Once you notice it, you can't unnotice it.

I'm not convinced Summerville is any better than what we have. He smashed it in the Championship for Leeds but then flattered to deceive in the PL. He didn't stand out first season for Wham and even this season he just had a purple patch of a couple of months, but disappeared when they needed him most.

I do tend to agree, it is easy to convince yourself the grass is greener.

Far have we travelled

Raised in other chats-Delap has to be in discussion. Good age, prem experience, decent goal record, physical attributes, likely Chelsea will listen to offers. Not perfect but worth considering-if price is decent.
I see your point, it's just that whenever he has played against us he has been so completely owned by our central defenders.

Yes, it goes with things like
1. players who are out injured/not being picked/on loan suddenly increase in capability
2. players who look good against you aren't necessarily usually going to be good when you sign them

I wouldn't be looking at either of them tbh.
