I mentioned a long while ago that we should have brought in a striker coach. Someone like Allan Russell, who is absolutely top drawer in this area should have been brought in, especially when it became evident we were struggling.

He's a name I'm unfamiliar with me Notch, but your general point is one which the hierarchy should probably have given serious consideration to.

No wonder we're onto our fourth manager this season when we don't give them the required tools with which to work. The expectations are not in line with the reality of what is available. People at the club need to understand where the problem lies.

A lot of very interesting comments in this thread. Many pointing out who we should have bought and who we shouldn’t. It is almost impossible to know who would fit into a club when you are looking at them coming from elsewhere. As has been said many times genuine goal scoring strikers are few and far between and just because some have had success elsewhere doesn’t mean it will translate to our club. Take Chris Wood, who has been a revelation here, and round figures has averaged a goal every 3 appearances everywhere he has been except at Newcastle where he scored 5 in 39 games. Why did they let him go? I suggest because he wasn’t doing it for them in their style of play. I believe we should have persevered with Kali who’s stats show 53 goals and 10 assists in 165 games, very similar to Wood, admittedly not in the prem but you still have to know where the goal is and be able to hit the target which unfortunately our back up strikers haven’t been able to do.

His playing career was very modest as he spent most of it in Scotland and the only English club I remember him playing for was Mansfield.

As a striker coach I can tell you he's absolutely top notch though. He spent several years as the striker coach for England a few years ago.

We have full backs that don't overlap and wingers that cut inside. We create almost no clear cut chances every single game.

We do not have a striker problem until we address our lack of creativity in the final third and can then demonstrate we also have a striker problem.

At this point I'd be inclined to put Netz in at left back, Neco right wing and shunt Hutchinson to the left wing, just to try and stretch play a bit.

He will be if he scores enough to keep them up. 2 goals in 8, was he a similar fee to McAtee and Bakwa?
He can score in as many games as he wants when they are 4-1 down. We all know that those goals mean less.

Bakwa costs that because of his potential. Castellanos is 27, he's unlikely to increase in value.

But, you're probably right in that he'll score more than Jesus. Excellent assist for our man though.

They won't mean less if relegation comes down to goal difference. Sure he scored a winner with his other goal.

If his goals keep them up, he's worth the fee paid.

I rate Jesus but he's not a lone forward (not in our system anyway). Hopefully, Wood is back to grab a couple in the last few games.

Rangers CF scored a couple of decent goals yesterday, but he won't be any use this season, which is when we need him.

Forget I mentioned it.
