Stress and Pie's take on things

If you want a match report, go somewhere else. Personally speaking, we don't see the point in browsing on the rotting corpse of one absurd match.
Suffice it to say, Forest were sucked into Blackpoo's game by spectacularly failing to close down their players effectively, thus allowing them to turn too often and create dangerous situations with ridiculous ease. At the same time, Forest lacked the composure to control the game, put sustained pressure on and exploit their hopeless defence. In short, Forest saved their worst performance till last. Earnie, Dex and perhaps Majewski showed some class; the rest will be bitterly disappointed at their display.
Next season, we hope McKenna is phased out, and that Moussi is pushed through. We hope that certain players who have contributed almost nothing, or who are a million miles from good enough, are moved on, and several new, quality players are signed. We know that one ridiculous match (and play offs are always ridiculous) should not be used as a basis for judgment, but where it highlights faults that have been present all season, then valid conclusions can be formed.
Which is where we stop talking about the match. Forget it. We have. And surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult. The numbing effects of alcohol and the devoted affections of gorgeous women provide relief, as always. Remembering the progress made in a marvellous season is another compensation. Not reading match reports, avoiding discussion with everyone including Forest fans, is enormously helpful. Looking forward to the World Cup...
Which brings us back to this:
A few weeks ago, Stress itemised his fears for a shitty summer. In brief, his points were:
1. That Tory Boy would end up running the country.
2. That Forest would cock up the play offs.
3. That England would make a mess of the World Cup.

Well, 1 and 2 not only happened, but they happened on the same day. There's misery for you. Except, of course, that it's not. Just as the red side of politics will now have time to regroup and watch the disintegration of right wing cynicism, so the red side of football can sit back and watch the Tangerines crash and burn in the next year or so. We offer no congratulations to Blackpoo - that would be hypocritical. We remain assured that their jammy, cavalier approach will be exposed for what it is sooner rather than later.
And another thing. Remember this:

Season 2005/6: League 1 - Failed to reach play-offs.
Season 2006/7: League 1 - Spectacularly knocked out of play offs.
Season 2007/8: League 1 - Automatic promotion to Championship.

Season 2008/9: Championship - Failed to reach play-offs.
Season 2009/10: Championship - Spectacularly knocked out of play offs.
Season 20010/11: Championship - ?

They do say everything works in threes, don't they?

Anyway, that's enough for now. We hope you'll join us soon for the World Cup. At least you've got your life back.

Totally agree with all of that.

We've had a bloody great season of entertaining football, we were within touching distance of the Premiership and missed out in the lottery of the playoffs. Now let's forget it, but not waste it and improve and get automatic promotion next season.

Interesting stuff, agree on Forest, don't see the point in bitching about Blackpool ... and there's little to nothing right wing about the Tory party any more.

Wow, so the Tories have renounced free market economics and now support redistribution of wealth through putting the ownership of the means of production in the hands of the workers? That's amazing.

When are they shooting the Royal family?

interesting.

I mentioned the pattern of failing badly, failing in the play-offs and auto promo to my brother last night. Granted, it is not exactly spooky and it can be viewed as clutching at straws but it makes sense as it demonstrates that you can succeed though steady progression.

Blackpool's jammy, cavalier approach got them through to the final. As did being better at taking their chances than we were.

I'll not slate them for that, I wish we'd done the same. Other than that Stress and Pie are spot on as usual.

We didn't close them down at all which just encouraged them to be cavalier.

I'm not sure they'd do as well against the likes of ManUre and Chelski though, it would make the Wigan game last week look restrained.
