Steve Chettle At Brinsley Rec?!

Just been walking the dog, and .. as you do... saw Steve Chettle on my local Rec ?!!

Thought it was him but wasn't sure, but just checked and sure enough it is. Seems he helps run and coach the East Midlands Sports Academy for kids and they have 5 a side tournaments and kids day out etc, which is going off on the Brinsley recreation ground today.

Not often you see a forest legend at your local rec.... ;D so just thought to let anyone know who is nearby and fancy nipping down. nice to see him still around and helping the kids around Nottingham.

(of course i bet no one has heard of Brinsley... they never do )

Im pretty sure hes also involved with our academy in a coaching role.

i also saw him at the Coventry home game, i must say he looked in great shape and could probably do a better job than wilson!

Played at Brinsley rec many a time. Steve Chettle actually rang my mate out of the blue. He was at Kimberley Welfare doing some presentation and my mates auntie asked him to ring my mate. My mate answered the phone and asked who it was and Chetts introuduced himself and asked us to come up. Got a photo of us two with him that sits at the end of my mates bed. He's 27 now and it looks a bit gay

Could be that Priory Celtic are playing,,he used to manage one of their sides when his lad played for them.

I work with his wife, well I say with but she works on the reception! She's a lovely woman

Also, he does the football academy at my daughters school

He lives 2 minutes from my parents ! Real genuinely nice guy. Still very much a football fan and Forest legend. I went to his testamonial, great day out !

I'm pretty sure he runs the Forest grassroots. Well he was just taking over when I left a few years ago, not sure if he's still doing it.

he runs that east midlands academy, its based at mansfield, goes all around the nottinghamshire, he coached at priory for awhile when his son played for them, he went to forest when his son got scouted for them and he coachs them now, not sure what age group it is though.

On your right there is a disused building, almost like a barn that a few years ago was something to do with Forest football in the community and is now a derelict shell where recreational drug users gather in the evenings.

As did Lee Glover apparently, who has just signed for a team who play in the same division as me. So I will get to play gainst him next season. Quite exciting really

United Counties League - he has signed for Irchester United who, to be fair, are utter guff. Says alot about my own ability that I play in the same division I suppose
