I think it's possible, because there are some poor teams in this league. Unfortunately we are very much one of them, and the risk is large.
Do I agree on leaving the manager with only a sub-standard squad from which to select his team? No. Whether that is specifically down to the policy of ND/MA I'm not sure, but I suspect it is.

It looks to me like the target for the club this season is 21st or above.
And, from a management point of view, what's the difference between finishing 7th or 21st ?
It's certainly more than a little risky, but if they manage to pull it off with a young team, very small squad and no new players in January then what ? Will we be congratulating them ?
I'm ever hopeful that the lack of money spent in Jan will lead to extra money being available over the summer.
Only time will tell (no matter how much we sit here discussing it).

I agree. I wouldn't blame Davies and I wouldn't blame the current squad. They are doing their best. We are being held back by not being able to improve the squad as is necessary.
Earnshaw - great signing. But we needed an Earnshaw quality signing in attack, midfield and defence.
We all knew this, but it was not done. That would have gone a long way to ensuring our CCC survival and Doughty wouldn't have had to worry about money then.

The worrying thing about that game for me was, that team that was fielded was minus 2 players that may have made a difference. It was as strong a team as we would have fielded all season. And they just weren't good enough. The team just isnt strong enough for battles like this. We desperatly need some numbers in there.
However I still hold the belief we will be in this division come the release of next season's fixtures.

I would blame Davies if the performances continue in the same vein. We weren't this bad under Calderwood, I think we may have it in us anyway to get out of this mess.
I think we all know our thoughts on the board and I personally remain livid for leaving us without a paddle in the fight for relegation.

I don't think there's been much change since Davies came in, if any at all. Except maybe the players look a bit fitter towards the end of the game.
Yes I do think this current squad has the ability to stay up, if only picking points off those around us in the mini league at the bottom. Davies has his job cut out and is obviously rattling a few feathers whilst he is doing it.
The fact we capitulated to our rivals has increased and concentrated the hurt this weekend.
Regarding the conduct of Forest in the transfer market, I still do support the club where the monetary decisions are made regarding players. It is not just the signing on fees that need to be met, alongside a whole raft of other costs when signing a player.
Every side in trouble has not stuck to their prepared budget........when throwing money around guarantees success, then I will maybe change my tune, but until I view the survival of Nottm Forest as a short term fix, i.e. lets pay some older players pension plans, a scenario we have certainly seen far to often down at Forest, just to sort this year out, I will continue to give my vocal support via LTLF and my money via Season Ticket renewals.

I was so shocked to read that, nothing can be further from the truth, especially as the club has to produce Audited Accopunts each year. According to that article ND has an input of close to £80m per year, now even for a wealthy man that is not pocket money.
Forest debts were around the mid thirty million mark, which makes me think a little journalistic licenec has been taken with the figures, it certainly made the article appear far more dramatic.

Don't forget that Joe Kinnear managed to wipe about £300m off our debt in about 2 months

In that circumstance though it would mean it was all in your own hands. WIn your game and you're safe. Lose and you're down. At least it wouldn't mean we were relying on some mid table team to get a result ........
