Agreed but I'd switch Moussi for Majewski.

Shouldn't this be in the official matchday Barnsley thread?

****Assuming Perch injured then i'd go:

Camp
Cohen Wilson Morgan Gunter
Tyson Moussi Majewski Garner
Earnie Blackstock

If Perch fit then he'd go LB and Tyson would drop out

I agree.

Although it sounded like our defence was to blame for our first half performance, I think part of the problem was the unsupporting midfield.

We missed McKenna and Majewski and only when Cohen moved into a midfield role did we seem to take more shape.

If Perch is still injured, I'd start Chambers.

Cohen in Midfield in the second half today is what made us play better IMO. He has to play in Midfield

i think we need to get to back to being difficult to beat, as that is the bedrock for any performance, especially away from home. And with McKenna missing right now, i think that should mean us going 4-5-1, as central midfield is a key area and there doesn't seem to be enough solidity in there without him. Moussi has the same physical presence and bite, but not the experience/leadership, while McGugan/Majewski provide the spark but not the graft. So I feel we probably need to get 3 in there with Moussi, Cohen and Majewski / a.n.other (Surman?). Course that means the left back spot is again void, meaning we have to get somebody in, or maybe move Gunter there, but that wouldn't be ideal. Perch isn't the answer there either as we know. I feel bringing an experienced central midfielder/left back in have to be priorities.

Earnshaw hasn't scored a goal when he has started an away game this season. I think fans are deluding themselves if they think he's the answer. Personally:

Camp

Gunter
Morgan
Wilson
left-back or square peg

Moussi
Cohen (captain)
McGoldrick
Anderson
Boyd

Blackstock

I thought we'd seen the back of Chambers at fullback, my god.

Snake thinks along my lines - not necessarily correct, but it's how many of us think. When we've tried to make a statement by playing 2 up front away (from the start), we usually come unstuck. 4-5-1 seems to let us compete in midfield until we overpower the opposition - then we can bring on an extra striker. Away at that place I refuse to name (down the A52) and at the bin dippers, we should have played 1 up front - and it's got to be the right one up front. Also, it has to be the right midfield. Bite my head off - in midfield, McGoldrick must start and Dex must be the one up front. McGugan shouldn't play-he clearly hasn't the stamina for the fight. Maybe as a late sub? When Ade started on his own up front (at Donny), it didn't work. 2 up front v Cov worked a bit and we were a little unlucky not to turn 60% possession into a win. Surely Billy can see this. Against Preston, once McGugan had been replaced and Cohen slotted into Midfield, we were almost back to our best.
We've got the players - it's how we use 'em.

Struggle because I want to play two up front, but I worry about our midfield.

Cohen has to go in midfield, so that means either Perchy comes in at left back or Chambers to rightback and Gunter to left. Or I suppose Chambo at left back like in Preston.

I'd be tempted to go with Dex up front alone initially, with Boyd and Ando on the flanks, Cohen and Moussi sitting and Raddy in the hole.

Basically, thank fook I'm not the manager, but FWIW:

Camp
Gunter Morgan Wilson Perch
Cohen Moussi
Anderson Majewski Boyd
Blackstock

I fully acknowledge it'd be harsh on Earnie.

Not my favoured formation, maybe go 3 at the back? Gunter can be a wing back and Cohen.

Not ideal, but maybe better away from home.

Camp

Chambers Morgan Wilson

Moussi
Gunter Majewski McGugan Cohen

Blackstock Earnshaw

That way we don't have Chambers at full back. He's crap at full back.

Its a horrible formation, but there is no square pegs in round holes.

It's a crazy plan, but it could work.

I'd say Gunter and Cohen are square pegs in that formation though.

Not sure how severe Perchy's injury is, in which case some alternative arrangement is needed for left back - Gunts moving across with Chambers coming in to RB?

Maybe. I think I prefer that marginally to Chambers covering left back.
