Standard of Referees

I am because studies have indicated in ALL sports that home teams and "big" teams tend to get favourable decisions. The secret is to become a a "big" club. Also remember clubs near the top of any league tend to get fouled etc more often because they are better. But any bias is, more or less, a natural occurence of these types of environments.
At least Man Utd got f**ked over last night though 😅

I hate Man Utd but it's not really right that anyone should suffer from bad refereeing decisions even if it benefits Forest.

If we went into the last game needing a point vs Bournemouth to stay up, and were 1-0 down in the last minute, then we got a really soft pen given by VAR when there was no contact at all (which Morgan somehow scored) then although we'd benefit that wouldn't feel right. Plus it would also have an impact on another team (e.g. Spurs or West Ham, whoever ended up relegated) and their fans. Although I guess most would like to see Spurs go down it could have an impact on people including those who work for them (not the players - like ours they are paid enough and would no doubt leave and find another top flight club to go to) as well as on the fans and all because the refs give a bad decision.

I know Huddersfield fans would still moan about the 2 pens they didn't get in the play off final but (as well as them not registering a single shot on target) they also weren't really pens because there wasn't sufficient contact or even contact really in either situation. They didn't get them because they weren't fouls, not because VAR or the refs were hopeless/bent/whatever.

I was only joking, but it is always nice when one of the bigger clubs gets f**ked over. It also reminds us how differently it is treated in the media.

I watch a lot of football and I get very wound up watching th decisions even when Forest aren’t involved, just because it is wrong and I know another one is on its way to us soon.

yes, we only have to see what happens when Liverpool or Man City get a decision not go their way...

I’ve been thinking about all this wrestling that goes on at corners and the argument that the ref can’t do anything because the ball isn’t in play. If two players square up to each other in the middle of the pitch and one throws the other to the ground then the ref gives a card whether the ball’s in play or not. So what’s the difference?

Oliver is a great ref, every time he refs one of our games I am relieved because you are going to get a fair ref.

Spurs were desperate to pressure him all game, he was having non of it
The best was van der Ven stumbling over in the box and wanting a penalty. (Though if Oliver had given it you'd hope VAR would have overturned it).

He is pretty much, by far, the best official in England.

And he played it very fairly today, not being taken in by Spurs diving about.

Ref did ok today. Could have quite easily given penalties to them that VAR would’ve said it wasn’t a clear and obvious error - so well done.
Obviously as a ref hater I had a couple of gripes. Both for fouls given against us when our player was fouled first - especially one where MGW was pulled back by Spurs player making him mistime his tackle. It didn’t impact the game at all but it just makes you wonder if they’ve ever kicked a football before taking up refereeing?

League 2 match yesterday. The ref was a stickler that the throw ins had to be taken from the right spot, but he or his linos didn't bother with foul throws or time wasting. And, seeing as his word was law and obviously no VAR, the cock ups were debated, but forgotten swiftly as the game moved on, so the strange decisions were spread about and affected both teams and both managers late said that it was a fair result. A draw, by the way, between Colchester and Walsall. Uncle Albert played about 70 minutes for Walsall.

Strange stoppage of about ten minutes as a drone was spotted over the stadium. Players taken off, for safety reasons apparently, but spectators were left remaining in the open.

They just said in the commentary on Leeds v West Ham that there was no injury time in Man C v Liverpool. Second half there were 7 sub breaks, 2 goals and 3 yellow cards. Surely that is 5 mins before you start? Obviously as it was 4-0 they decided to ignore the rules / laws. Jokers.

Can't have the Red Scouse too embarrassed.

Bit of a step-down from Micheal Oliver tonight; after reffing Forest the other week, tonight he's slumming it with Real Madrid again FC Bayern.

He must be gutted.

Mostly useless, but not QUITE as useless as the lino on the BC side who had absolutely no clue what was going off mostly.

I am not going to complain too much, he got a lot wrong but for both sides & none really impacted the game.

Give me a ref like Sailsbury over a cartel ref every day of the week.
