1) Konate falls over, Jesus through on goal, Taylor gives a free kick to Liverpool. Why?

2) Szoboszlai pretends to be on receiving end of bad tackle. It wasn't. It was also a Forest throw in. Liverpool receive throw in.

3) Sangare is a bit late in a tackle but Taylor correctly let's play go on. A good ten seconds elapse and Liverpool cough up possession in the channel and Forest have a counter overload. Taylor brings it back for a Liverpool free kick.

4) Liverpool have a free kick, they try to switch play but it's over hit and goes out for a Forest throw in. Taylor brings it back for Liverpool to retake the free kick for literally no reason.

5) Liverpool player throws the ball away when we look to take a free kick quickly. No yellow.

6) MGW is booked for stopping a Liverpool quick free kick despite it looking like he had the ball kicked at him.

7) Jesus is barged in the back, falls over the ball and grabs it. Free kick to Liverpool for hand ball.

8) Szoboszlai literally ducks a challenge and asks for a free kick for nothing. Taylor obliges.
9) Dominguez having his shirt pretty much pulled off his back right before they get their winner. Nothing doing.

10) Goal in 97th minute despite 5 mins added on (and I'm not buying the extra two minutes because of the first VAR check when the goal and the check was done before 90.

11) Goal was clearly offside.

Micro (and some major) decisions that favour the likes of Liverpool that turn a 0-0 game into a 1-0 game.
Number 7 in that list was an absolute f***ing disgusting. Taylor's looking right at it and gives the wrong thing. Utterly ridiculous. Look at that and tell me it's not bent

He’d just given Jesus two freekicks in a row prior to that. Couldn’t possibly give him a third 🙄. In much the same way as VAR couldn’t possibly disallow two of their goals in a row as well.

I agree that Jesus was fouled and the ref got that wrong, but one of the things I find the most annoying in the modern game is players grabbing the ball when they’ve been fouled, or when they think they’ve been fouled, or when they know they haven’t been fouled but want to pressure the ref into giving the free kick. So although I think it was the wrong decision and he would’ve penalised the same challenge on a Liverpool player, I agree with the yellow card and wish our players wouldn't do it. I know just about all players do it but they should let the ref decide what is and isn’t a foul (even if the ref gets it wrong from time to time).

It did remind me of Johnny Metgod who, one afternoon was in the centre circle as Van Breukelen kicked the ball from the penalty area. With the ball dropping to Metgod, he gets an almighty shovel in the back. He reaches up about 10 feet in the air, catches the ball, puts it down and takes the free kick.

Ref didn't see the shove and booked him for deliberate handball.

Side note - browsing sociable media, it's been a long time since I've seen so many fans of other teams all saying the same thing - that the offside (onside) decision was as bent as a bent thing that's been bent by Mr Bent

I say this until I’m blue in the face (not just when it goes against Forest) but I don’t understand how etikite isn’t classed as interfering with play. The ball is lobbed in to the 1 metre area he is occupying in the penalty area, Aina is left in no man’s land because he is trying to cover two players. Aina is therefore having to adapt his play to cover a player who is offside. So how is he not affecting play? If there was 10 yards difference I’d get it but Aina is literally wedged between the two of them.

Well yes, but I dare say that incident would have stood out at the time, whereas now players routinely flop under the slightest contact and grab the ball and that’s what really annoys me, even when our players do it.

To be honest while I'm usually on board - especially with Taylor - I'm finding pinning this one on the ref really frustrating.

Nobody is pinning it on the ref. It's clear we struggle to score goals.

However, I've seen that early barge on MGW and cannot comprehend how it's ok for a defender to do that to an attacker yet Konate throws himself over under little to no challenge and the ref gives a free kick.

It makes no sense and there is no accountability.

Also how did that sweaty Argie Mac Allister not get booked twice for failing to get back into his own half of the pitch in anything like a reasonable time after the no-goal and "goal"?

We got a card for getting a free kick kicked at us (delaying the restart) . . . .
Even worse for MGW booking is that VVD and Anderson were coming back onto the pitch after going off for head injuries so they were just chancing their luck taking it quickly knowing it would get pulled back.

Then there is the Liverpool player down on the edgr of the area (not a head injury and the ref seen that) with Liverpool in possession, we tackle them and gain the ball AT immediately blows for treatment for the Liverpool player.

Those two things in comparison are a disgrace. The commentators saying it wasn’t enough for a penalty. I agree to be honest, but then it should be the same standard the other way. All refs buy those now though, not just Taylor, it is infuriating.

Also Taylor has this thing where he will inconsistently give some soft fouls, not others, then occasionally he does a theatrical thing where he angrily waves a player up and doesn’t give the foul. Then goes back to giving one just as soft. Hes an utter **** even though he did nothing highly controversial today to be fair.
Yeah I neither think he’s a good referee nor a particularly biased one. Just wildly inconsistent as you say.

Rob Jones on the other hand I dread ever having again in a big game. Or a small one really.

I was convinced he was gonna send of MGW today after his early booking.

Now I know the exact supposed definition of the rule has been explained to us, but how in heaven's name is that guy nearest the goal line not offside when the guy in the light coloured shirt standing next to him is the one who heads the ball. How is he not interfering with play?

The world has gone mad. Either that or Donald Trump is in charge at IFAB.

Because he plays for a cartel club and the PL/PGMOL want cartel clubs to win.

Next question your honour.

That's what I mean, he cleared it straight to them but he was pulled back before and didn't make anything of it where as you know every single Liverpool player would have been crying for a free kick. Not that you should have to, but you do and we don't do it much compared to every other team.
He shouldn’t need to it was a clear foul and should’ve been pulled back for a free kick when there was no advantage.

You missed Konates 3 missed yellow cards (at least), but spot on with the others. They all add up and help get Liverpool back into a game they were clearly struggling in.

I’d also assume from that photo that Ekitike is most probably impeding Ola getting back towards his goal and defending the cross by physically blocking his path.

Two minor ones stood out for me:
1) Playing on after the “head injury” until the very second Forest won the ball back
2) when Slobs (I think) lost the ball about 25 yards out with no cover. No free kick given, Slobs stops and throws his arms in air, ref realises that Forest player is through and so takes easy option and gives the free kick.

The goal? All the evidence available to the eye says he’s offside. How does the semi automated system work out that Aina had stretched his leg out? That’s before we get onto Ekitike. I suspect that if it wasn’t for the first VAR that one would have been disallowed.

I just don’t see it today folks. We can all act aggrieved, but having been bang in line with the offside for the winner, but from the Clough stand side, Ola was playing him on. My hope was all on them giving Ekitike off, but as has been done to death it’s not how the offside rule currently works, stupid as that may be.

The really egregious error for me was Konate falling over and Jesus being penalised as he went in on goal. Right in front of us and a farce of a decision. But a flopping defender gets that call at least once in every game with the referee on the wrong side to see the blatant cheating. Infuriating yes, but not Taylor being bent.

Trying to pin that gut punch today on Taylor, much as I dislike him as an official, is clutching at straws unfortunately.
