It certainly was easier to avoid the misinformation, bum fights and porn before Sissy SpaceX took over.
The guardian's ( Boooooo !) move is the opposite of "its my ball..." Its literally Elon's Ball (and unless you similarly think hes right to say not advertising on X is illegal, ) then If the woke lefties dont want to play with his ball , they dont have to.
Im not saying they have to play ball. They are free to leave but its childish hence "Its my ball and I am going home". You have 2 options on X following and for you. X its pretty easy to get into a space with information that you only want to hear. I havent noticed any difference from twitter to x to be honest because I just stick on following and dont bother in the for you section because that algorithmic to make you get upset to engage more.

As for misinformation media outlets have to be really careful about that because who decides what that is? The Guradian was full of what I would deem as misinformation and other news outlets surpessed news stories for political bias which is their right. The point being is to have an arbitor of "information" is the most dangerous principle in all. These arbitors all called a lab leak misinformation.

So point is you can easily shelter yourself if you want on X, you should corroborabte most information you consume anyway even on other outlets and the Guardian is kicking themselves in the teeth with this childish behaviour. There is no such thing as a place that has "the truth". They are just limiting their voice and reach.

Don't blame them, though. Who'd want to be on X? Sounds a pretty vile place.

All media are biased, but mainstream media at least fact check their stories before they put them out.

There's no evidence of a lab leak AFAIK, with the wet market a far more likely source of the Covid outbreak.

Unless you believe all mainstream media are really under government control already, I'd trust them to get closer to the facts than most online sources.

So now we have a highly regarded referee within the PGMOL found to be expressing views which indicate he may have a bias against (at least one) certain club will PGMOL take appropriate action and arrange for a completely independent investigation to be given full and unimpeded access to all records and interview referees instructed to provide fully truthful answers so that they can openly show whether this is a one off occurrence or something all their members consider to be acceptable and normal?

And will all referees now be subjected to drugs tests to allay fears that some of their decision making may be made under the influence?

Don't hold your breath.

And will Howard Webb be fined £125000 for failing to control his referees?

To quote a football coach friend. This is the shot that brings the whole castle tumbling down. Hopefully, we can see proper change in officiating and the standards that all involved hold themselves to, even with accountability.
I've said before, as has @Strummer , the German way of allowing refs to conduct media interviews post match to explain decisions is outstanding, and I know other countries do similar. Its only the British leagues that seem to think that no one should challenge the officials.

All this is doing is pointing out how f***ing pathetic Neville & The Sky Mafia were targeting Forest for daring to suggest that referees acted impartially.

Last week, Carragher said not only should Coote never ref a Liverpool game, but never ref a game that could affect Liverpool's league position. Honestly, the utter hypocrisy makes my blood boil.

I wonder what the PGMOL as an organization would have to do to get reformed, it needs binning. They are that secretive, I dread to think what actually happens behind closed doors. A referees body should not be so secretive.

A match of two halves it felt like today.
Bottled a second yellow decision and felt like he was happy to slow the game down from the start.
Second half, seemed to wise up to the shithousing a bit

I thought he managed the game so poorly all game, he got loads and loads of small decisions wrong but got the major decisions right.

To be fair though Ipswich really came to try and spoil, the ridiculous amount of time they took over everything in the 1st half & the constant hacking us down when we got into a dangerous position.

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
Twice in the game he gave us soft free kicks to make up for making the wrong decision moments earlier

He let some fouls go on Silva & Gibbs-White that should have been yellow early on.

Just posted this in the Premier League thread as part of a discussion on handball. Should go in here too.

. In yesterday’s Forest match. An Ipswich player fell on the ball, expecting a foul. None was given and the player got up and carried on - despite the player looking to have grabbed the ball when he fell over (I’ve only seen the incident in real time & no replays) . That is deliberate handball and should have been a yellow card and free kick to Forest.

Well actually, isn't that then (if there wasn't judged an illegal contact which brought the player onto the ball) not exactly what JWP got his 2nd yellow card for a few weeks back?

So as you say - a deliberate handball so a yellow and a free kick to us (though I didn't see yesterday's game).

At least when Yatesy does it he's smart enough to actually have been fouled.

Anyone see the Bournemouth 2nd goal?

The same as the penalty not given against Everton. Defender kicking through the back of the attacker's heal - we get "not enough contact, bar being set higher for penalties" they get instant penalty. Noting that VAR would have looked at both incidents, that is 4 refs who are inconsistent - well, 2 as the Everton was the wrong decision, so actually infact 3 refs wrong as Howard Webb supported the Everton decision.

Whilst we are talking penalties, watching MoTD, the claimed penalty on Wood as he was running away from goal looked a clear penalty as there was contact on him causing him to stumble and fall, without throwing himself to the ground. Not sure why that wasn't given, other than we have used up our season's allocation.

The penalty being discussed above also puzzled me. Wood actually played the ball first, the Ipswich player then tripped him before playing the ball, but got away with it because he had played the ball. But surely the foul came before he played the ball so the fact he touched the ball doesn't count because the foul had already stopped play?

Of course, I'm talikng from memory, so if things happened in a different order I could be wrong!

Gibbs White booked for 1 shirt pull but he let them get away with similar a couple of times.

Number 10 persistently fouling didn't get booked. Delap intentionally barging Aina in the back should have been a yellow as well.

Obvious blocking tactics at corners (number 40 stands at the edge of the box, moves into the middle, then holds Milenkovic/Wood).

Penalty on Jota looked soft, thought the one on Wood was more of a pen. It's one thing going down but I don't like the theatrical falls and rolling about. Just go down.

One of the most annoying things is letting them take ages on throws, corners, goal kicks and Muric holding the ball 10+ seconds every time then when we are in the lead, he starts angrily waving us to hurry up. Piss off we'll take our time now thanks.

Ref and linesmen yesterday were as weak as you'd ever want to see.

2 minutes added in the 1st half?? Absolute joke. Ipswich had wasted more than that in the first 10 minutes.

Ref was, on a number of occasions, wholly influenced by the crowd before making his decision.

Also, if you're going to card someone, CARD THEM.

Don't fanny around talking pointing and generally faffing, during which time the crowd gets riled because it appears you're not going to issue the stonewall yellow, book the bugger and THEN you're free to piss around.

Penalties?
Silva, 80:20
Wood 100
Wood 95
Wood 100

We've had our 1 for the season I guess
