spend once, think twice

Probably a slightly more subtle dig at the elongated committee process the Reds employ... we seem to take a long time to spend money. Spend once, think twice.

It would certainly make more sense to me if he was to say, 'think twice, spend once' as I would hope the thinking came before the spending. :)

Many things come before spending at Forest: thinking, tossing off, making derisory bids, saying players want to come here, etc, etc, etc

Damn, I was just thinking "OOh, I could make a Celine Dion joke in here" and FBS beat me to it :(

Perhaps in 2 weeks time Billy will start his post match summing up with "Old Chinese proverb say..."

I think he meant that if you buy yoghurt past its sell by date, it could well have a surface skin of mould. The mould will not hurt you, in fact it will aid digestion, but it will be unattractive and not add to the aesthetic qualities of the food.

He's trying out titles for a new Bond movie.

You know what Col, you might have a point here.

Stick a bowler-hat on Billy and he looks a bit like Oddjob, Goldfinger's sidekick!

I can see it now:

Bond: "Do you expect me to talk?"

Davies: "Nay, yer daft **** ah 'kin expect ye to work hard, advise and recommend".

Sounds to me like a spend on haste, repent at your leisure type thing.

Billy getting his excuses in first.

Instead of going on about spending, he should be out on that training ground with the side, learning and practising how to defend inswinging free kicks into the Forest box.

My other half thinks you have summerised the post match interview perfectly!

that would make rubbish radio, and to be fair they had just finished playing a game, they probably could have done with a short rest - so i'm not to critical of billy doing post match interviews instead of training sessions

How do you know he isn't - and why do you think they employ a coaching team.

Clough & Taylor wasn't always down at the training ground, that's where Jimmy Gordon came in. After the match on a Saturday Jimmy Gordon would sit down with the manager an hour before training to see what the boss wanted his players to concentrate for the forthcoming match or which areas to brush up on where he felt we was being let down.

A managers job is not all about coaching all week long!! - and since Billy finds it a waste of time by going to watch other players (that we will never buy) he does have a bit more time to reherse his next media speech.

couldn't give a $hit what it mean TBH. Best thing to do is not read too much into such comments.

Well they are not doing the job right, have you missed the recent glaring examples of failing to defend inswinging wide freekicks

...and taking throw-ins.

Billy also said before and after the game that they'd be working on defending Doncaster's set pieces.

Maybe, like the acquisition panel, the players aren't performing well enough at the minute.
