SOUTHAMPTON STOP ALL TRANSFERS

Pinnacle, the group fronted by Matt Le Tissier has put a stop to all players leaving Southampton until they have taken over.
So the proposed transfer of McGoldrick and Andrew Surman is off for the forseeable future.
Nathan Dyer was transferred to Swansea this morning, in a deal done before Pinnacle got involved, they issued this warning to any other club eyeing their players

"Any other potential transfers are to be put on hold by the club while Pinnacle are finalising their takeover."

The moneyman behind the group is reported to be worth several hundred millions.

Haha, is it me, or is that a stupid move? They've potentially cheated themselves out of millions of pounds here - by the time Pinnacle do take over, interested in these players may have waned and it'll be too late.

Whats your ketchup?

Makes sense from their point of view considering the back pocket tendencies of the current regime... Annoying for us though!

They obviously are waiting to see if their new appointed manager wants to hold onto them, as both players seem reluctant to move.
I wouldn't call that a dumb move, more like a move from a club not needing money.

If they're confident they will have a solid financial situation in League One (with -10 points) then so be it. I just think it'd be easier to secure some finances early in the transfer window, so you're not too late to buy some decent players on a non-panicky basis.

If a club doesn't pay the wages .....is the contract broken between club and player?

So where would this leave McGoldrick?? Free to negotiate a new contract with an interested club?

Can't find it in the F.A.'s laws but the BBC....

So players being paid late on a regular basis, although legally entitled to treat their contracts as broken, are artificially restrained from taking up paid employment at another club.

Like the rest of us, footballers have standing orders for mortgages and other bills. If they are not being paid on a regular basis, all sorts of problems are caused.

The footballing authorities need to adhere to the law of the land and do away with uncertainty in players' minds and, at the same time, bring recalcitrant clubs into line.

They need to protect the players by telling the clubs that the constraints of the transfer window (undoubtedly challengeable in law anyhow) will not apply where players have not been paid on time over a set period.

The prospect of players walking away without any compensation to the club failing to meet its legal obligations would concentrate the minds of club owners who do not honour their side of the wage bargain.

At the moment, the footballing authorities and the players' union appear to be of as much use as a chocolate watch in a fire.

It's time they took a stand to help our footballers. No wages, no contract, no player.

Southampton unable to pay wages

Administrator Mark Fry is holding talks with four interested parties
Southampton have been unable to pay their players or staff in May as their financial problems continue to mount, BBC Radio Solent understands.

Office staff were told that their monthly salaries had not been paid at a meeting on Thursday.

The troubled club remain in talks with four groups of investors, with administrator Mark Fry hoping for a resolution in the next seven days.

Southampton's parent company went into administration in April.

The team were relegated from the Championship last season and will start next campaign in League One on minus 10 points as a punishment for their financial affairs.

Administrators have asked the club's staff to carry on working for another week as a "goodwill gesture" while they continue to look for a buyer.

"In order to enter into the exclusivity agreement, the Consortium has paid a non-refundable, undisclosed fee, and as a result the Club is now in the position to pay its staff wages in full for the month of May."

..............may have been paid now, however your players may only need 2 salaries not to be paid and this can be construed as "regular"..... broken contract and I think (could be wrong!) but the player can look for another club.

They may have been paid now.....but June payday is around the corner!

By the end of June their 'moneyman' will be in place. They have already done the 'due dilligence' and deregistered the club from its old firm at the stock exchange. They will be announcing thier new board before the end of the week.
Sounds as if the deal is done to me.
Only days away from being the richest club outside the Premier League.

If it is we can forget buying any of their players, let alone on the cheap.

Hmmm, I highly doubt we will be the richest club outside the Premier League.

Actually, no chance in that happening.
