Something that pi55es me off!!!

Why do people on here and at games get so pi55ed off about fans who turn up for the big games?

This happens at all clubs and national sides around the world on a weekly basis.

The play offs highlighted this. We had loads of fans moaning, saying things like

"were did the extra 7000 come from tonight"

"The fans who dont come every week can **** off"

Someone said on here today, that "Blackpool should be ashamed that they took an extra 30,000 fans to Wembley compared to their home games"

"Fans who who only want to go to Dierby away are a disgrace"

I've had a season ticket on and off for around 15 years. One season in the Premiership I went to about 14 away games. Last season I missed 5 home matches and went to 8 away.

For **** sake would we rather that we couldnt pull big crowds or sell out Wembley?! Some people arent massive football fans but like to be entertain on the odd occasion and might choose to go to the footy. Big games - Deirby, Fester, Geordies are always going to attract bigger crowds - its human nature.

Some peope cant afford to go to every game, some people simply dont want to - does that mean that they should be ashamed of themselves that they choose to go to certain matches.

I find it very arrogant that people have a go at others for only attending certain matches. We dont know everyones situations. I know loads of Forest fans who dont go very often at all, and they all have their reasons. They all went to the play off matches to show their support to Nottingham Forest. when teams are doing poorly, these fans who for whatever reasons (living away from Nottingham / lack of money / time etc) may choose to spend their hard earned money / time on other things - again its human nature

I have two young kids but still play football on Sundays, so during the football season I might not be able to do things with the kids at the weekends and that is not fair on them. I now have to think about these things before deciding whether or not to get a season ticket. If I do, I would probably have to give up playing - and I dont want to while I still am able.

Blackpool today was a perfect example. Do we think that people from their town who wanted to go and show their support to their towns football team are a disgrace?

No it shows that a football team can unite a town. This will happen in every town and city in the UK. You cant expect every team to sell out their ground every week.

Teams like Villa, Everton even Celtic dont sell out every week. So if we did move to a new stadium, it wouldnt matter if we didnt sell out every game (thats for another thread though :))

Stop bitching about these fans and enjoy the fact that we can pull massive crowds on our day.

End of rant

I think we'd all love for the City Ground to be a total sell out every single game yet it's realistically only likely to happen for a few of the bigger games a season whilst we're in the Championship.

This year I have only on one occasion been unable to buy a home ticket and that was for the second leg of the playoffs. It did leave a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth when there were people there who I know have been to only a couple of games all year but that's the risk I took so it's my own fault.

Next year will be different. :)

When we're promoted to the Premiership I expect we'll see far more 'casual' supporters which can be a good thing as it's putting money into the club. If anyone wishes to guarantee a ticket then they know what they have to do.

It annoys me when people moan about fans 'coming out of the woodwork'.

Yeah, there are quite a few in Nottingham who support Forest but haven't been to a game in years but still went to the Play-Off game. However, tarring every fan with the same brush is really unfair.

There are many, such as myself and MJ (to name but two), who can only make certain games due to geographical and monetary reasons. I wouldn't class us as 'woodwork' fans.

We're paying to watch the game just like everyone else at the match. We spend in excess of £100 for every game we go to. Does that make us any less of a fan than you? No.

I could quite easily go and watch Brighton every week but I'm Forest 'til I die and couldn't imagine having the same affinity for any other club.

I was guilty of this but I know fans like you are restricted in the amount of games you can make and this doesn't make you any less of a fan.

It's people who who choose not to attend games when they can afford it and spare the time and only turn up for big games who are lesser fans.

I like it that there are fans who only attend certain games. It makes me feel smug and superior knowing i`m a more dedicated and hardcore follower of Nottingham Forest than they are :)

I would rather the ground be full than half empty, subject to the following gripes.

1. Fans should back the team - whether you go to every game or it's your only one, if you're mithering, moaning or booing - f*** off!

2. For games where there's a high demand it pisses me off that fans with less dedication can get tickets ahead of those fans who have been to most or all games (ie. the Away Membership scheme).

The worst thing about away membership is the only way to register your disapproval is boycotting it which means you won't get tickets for the big away games so is just cutting your nose off to spite your face.

They should just add the 100k or whatever they expect to raise from it onto ST prices.

Yeah, I'll be buying again... there's not really an option. It's a bit of a moot point I suppose, I have started considering it £30 odd quid on top of my season ticket price.

I dont really mind if people only turn up for the odd game to be honest just as long as im still in the A block or somewhere else a bit noisey when I go. I had a season ticket from the age of 18 til about 23 but now can only get to about 6 or 7 games a season due to finances (young son) and not working at present. My mates say to me that what I should do when im back in work is save up for a holiday, incorrecto, what im going to do is get myself back in the norm with my season ticket, i miss my saturdays at the football,.

Simply allocating tickets by away games attended would also have the benefit of encouraging people to attend as many as possible to wrack up their games attended record meaning we would recieve better backing on the road.

Fester isn't a big game

Not the biggest game for me either, but the fact that both games were complete sell outs suggests otherwise

This is my point. Why should it be only hard core fans who attend football matches. Most of my mates would rather sit in te pub all day on Saturday than watch Forest - even though they are Forest fans. They begrudge paying £28 for a ticket - but they are quite hapy to gamble £100 evey weekend of football bets and playing cards.

I try and encourage them to come to the CG, but ive relised theres no point - they will come when they want to come - Derby / Lester / Leeds et al! I just let them get on with it.

Ive got another mate who earns good money, has loads of free time and 'supports' Forest.

He might come to a couple of games a season .... The reason is he not a massive football fan. Why should this annoy me? He just doesnt have the same passion for Forest as me, but that doesnt mean I get annoyed that he doesnt come every week!

There might be people who arnt really football fans who are new to area and might fancy watching a game now and again.

I might want to watch a 20 /20 cricket match - ive never been to a cricket match. If I did, I wouldnt want to be looked down on by the regulars - See my point?

If everyone who named Forest as a team and went to games with the same degree of enthusiasm as our more obsessive support, then the demand for tickets would be ridiculous, although we might actually stand a chance at filling the DoughtyArthurGamstonMegaBowl.

Agree with you there ... the away membership scheme is a bit of a joke really, although I used it last season to my benefit to get a derby ticket, having only been one away match prior to that. We all knew if you got one you could get a ticket to the sheep dip.

Still doesnt make it right. I would have n qualms missing out on a ticket if it meant that someone who had been to more away games got one, but I played the system!

Definately are.

Just winds me up when people get annoyed that we have sold out a games due to the 'lesser fans'!

I can't really complain either as I used the system to my advantage in the 08/09 season to acquire a Derby ticket when I had only been to one away game that season.

if the forest-blackpool match had been in a 50000 ground i reckon we would have sold it out.

if you build it they will come. as some yankee film once said.

I dont even know what PMSL means but it sounds gay.

We sold out V Blackpool with people who had to have a client Reference number, there were thousands who didnt even get near it. We would have sold 1000's more if our stadium was bigger and Wembley would have sold out in within days!

Plus our pulling crowds doesnt involve free season tickets, free tickets when you test drive a car and free tickets to 1000's of fans on a first come first serve basis.

Remind me of Dierbys average crowd before they started moved to shite park and started giving away 1000's of tickets?

Great away support last season as well - 309 to Boro - great support from a 'footballing town' :D

I'm not a season ticket holder (though I was previously for 18 years) as I can't get to every game, as my wife works a lot of Saturday's and I have kids who need running here there and everywhere.

So I attend when I can, there will be thousands of others in the same boat as me, and that's where all those 'fans who come out of the woodwork' come from on big games.

Obviously the posters on the other threads, and those that think they are better fans because they have season tickets, think it's the same 20 odd thousand who attend every week!
