Some ideas for targets in January

First Team Squad
I think we have to give up on Pratley and Whittingham - the TAP have screwed it up and it will be very difficult to tempt them now Cardiff and Swansea are flying so high.

So if I were Billy, I'd be recommending names like the following:

Steven Taylor (Newcastle) - good CB, but will struggle to get a game for the Geordies this season
Alan Smith (Newcastle) - gives options, including backup/replacement for McKenna
Gianni Zuiverloon (WBA) - a solid CB who also gives options down the right. Prefer him to Meite.
Nathan Delfouneso (Villa) - needs regular football but has huge potential - get on loan if cannot buy
Roman Bednar (WBA) - quality at Championship level, not getting a look in at Brom
Darren Ambrose (Palace) - classy goalscorer and a realistic target
Brian Stock (Doncaster) - rate this guy, out of contract in the Summer
James Coppinger (Doncaster) - similar to Stock. Experienced, may fancy move to a bigger club
Danny Graham (Watford) - good goalscorer, although would prefer some of the above

I'm sure there's loads more, but you get the message. Most of these lads are experienced, would improve our squad and.....more debtably.....could be realistic targets. I'm lacking good ideas for a left winger. Was tempted by the idea of stealing Andy Reid off Sheff Utd, but I'm not sure.

Personally i think pratley will join in january; i can see swansea selling him because they have played pretty well without him. Out of the list, smith and taylors wages are too high and they wont drop down to us so they can be discarded straight away.

Get real, guys - this is Forest. We'll mull over possible transfer targets then come the end of January we'll have old uncle Nige tell us that none of the available players 'were better than what we already have'. lol

Im very confident that the board will spend in january; billy davies is putting them under serious pressure atm because fans will start to think if he can get this team to a point within the play offs think what he could do with a few extra players. Billy is already making noises about the board and how we will see their commitment and desire to reach the prem in january; when january comes we will see who was telling the truth; billy or the board. The pressure is well and truly being cranked up by billy.

Good news, we are interested in two wingers. Bad news one club incredibly unlikely to sell to us unless we match our record transfer which isn't going to happen. Good news the other one has a minimum fee release clause that even our TAP would pay. I don't believe either of these players have been mentioned before.

I'd love to see Isaiah Osbourne signed from Villa

I agree. If we don't add (and add properly) in january billy will walk.

Berty on loan/permanent is a must!

i went to the leicester v wba game in the league cup a couple of weeks ago and a player that stuck out like a saw thumb was giles barnes i know hes been injury prone but has been fit for nearly a year he played 90 mins and looked quality on there right wing and skinned leicester's left back more than 5 times and his actully very quick . i had a look on the wba site he has made only 6 sub apperenceses and his contract runs out in the summer but has an option to extend by a year wud be a good loan signing with a view to a permanant move and he knows davies and it would piss the derby fans off!

I am hoping we go for ambrose and with him in a side at the wrong end of the table who have only recently come out of admin I can see it as a realistic target

I read somewhere that Adam Hammill has a clause which means he can leave for about £500k in January.

Would be a good buy.

I think thats a fun little list you've got there. Good shouts as they wet your whistle, but realistically I think we wouldn't get a sniff at a few of those.

My pick of that bunch would defo be Bednar! Great shout.. your right he is f***ing awesome at this level and is quite a way down the ranks at WBA now.
I've been saying I want us to sign one of these big dominant CF, Drogba like in style but at championship standard. Chris Iwelumo, Jason Scotland and Jay Bothroyd come to mind, that kind of build and composure.. somewhere in the middle of Dex, Dele & Earnie's assets..

First one - see above.

Other one links to our on loan striker.

I'm glad you're not saying 'done deal' because we've been through all that before.

I hope there's something in your rumours. Hammill would be a good signing - tidy player with a few goals to his name.

So I guess you're suggesting Anthony Pilkington from Huddersfield as the other lad? I know nothing about him. Seems to have a few goals, 22 years old, but I very much doubt he's worth £3.5mn.
