I'm sure if he gets his head right he's got a couple of years at a top CC club. However 40k a week is prem wages so there's something wrong somewhere if he's playing in the lower leagues. TBH I can't see many prem clubs offering him a contract come Jan.

Campbell got seduced by the magical charms of Sven into signing a high-paid contract for the Magpies. He agreed. When the time came to join and his sat-nav sent him no further than a poxy stadium in a concrete hell-hole by the Trent as opposed to the beauty of Newcastle's St.James' Park he began to panic. When, after much media interest and a continued lack of fitness/motivation, McParland (who looks nothing like Chris Hughton) made him play in a glorified shrimp-net by the sea, and his new team lost, he thought "bugger this for a laugh" and got out as quick as his ageing legs would carry him.
He'll go to a team who probably won't pay as much but will carry a damn sight more credibility than the nobodies as Meadow Lane.
He was naive to go there in the first place and has subsequently made himself look an utter knob by bailing out as soon as he has.

He also probably didn't want to put his face to some exploitative* mining practices in South Africa which is what the bulk of his contract stipulated as an ambassador*

He's the type of player I'd take like a shot IF I was convinced that our young defenders would actually learn something from him, much like young Michael Dawson learning absolutely spades from Des Walker.

He's really f**ked things up for himself.
I actually believe he had the chance of say a 2 year contract at a lower prem club for slightly lower wages. But now surely any club that takes him will have to endure the suspicion of his motives. No club wants to look a laughing stock which is what he brings with him. His reputation has flipped from ex international superstar to money grabbing shady fat bloke. For this reason I can only see him running off to the MLS where they won't understand the current debacle and can promote him as a star.
