Ok so everyone knows we want Pratley.
We know we want Pratley.
Swansea know we want Pratley
Pratley knows we want Pratley
So what's the hold up ?
It makes me laugh that Billy has always banged on about (at both Forest and Derby) about teams who are in the play-offs being at a disadvantage with regard to signing players beause they are behind time wise.
Well the play-off final has come and gone and all I've seen is Billy on holiday waffling on about crap, meetings between Billy and Nigel, meetings between Billy and the TAP, meetings between Billy and the tea lady (alright I made that bit up but you get my drift) but no f***ing meeting involving Pratley.
So...my question remains...where's Pratley ?

at wigan signing a lucrative 4 year deal ?

I very much doubt we will get pratley, I see it as being like mills last year, and swansea rate him at a stupid amount a bit like p'borro and boyd.

That's my point Rich,
we all know that if a lower Prem club comes in for a player we are after then chances are we lose out. The trick is to get in there quick, persuade them their future lies with us,make a good financial offer to the player and the club and get them to sign on the dotted line before anyone else is on the scene. Ok, it won't always work but surely it's got to be better than popping off on holiday, having a series of meetings, think about it for a bit and then go and see if the player is still available. Sometimes you can get something good just by being the first in there.

Picture the scene...you see a good looking female standing at the bar. You think to yourself mmm..I'd love to take her home tonight. What should I do ? Go straight up to her NOW and see if I can make her an offer she can't refuse ? No I know what I'll do, I'll have another beer, perhaps chat to my mates for a bit, go to the toilet and THEN I'll go and chat to her.Yeah good idea. So you do just that and go back later. What do you find ?Oh shit some ugly little f***er with loads of dosh is taking her back to his place. D'oh !!

So if you had an offer on the table from one or more top Championship clubs and your agent says "Wait before signing and I will see if any Prem clubs are interested", what would you do..?

Im pretty sure the club wouldnt be advertising the fact that they are having meetings with a player everywhere they possibly could.

And that’s the point, in this business you can’t afford to fart around and take an age over whether or not to push for him or not, you have to recognize your targets and pursue them with a meaningful and determined drive in an attempt to persuade them that this is the right club for them, this has to be done as soon as possible or you risk losing out on your targets altogether, but we all know how the powers at work within Forest will give excuse after excuse because of the later, Forest will miss out on a lot of their targets because of the lack of believe and urgency they display when perusing targets we only have to look back on January for the evidence of this.

Targets according to Billy Davies have been recognized now lets see how long it takes for the first arrival and how many will go to other clubs, then I bet you a pound to a piece of shit the drivel will start in earnest .

**** me am i in a negative mood or what lol

Maybe he is on holiday and will sort things out when he returns, wherever he goes.

Maybe the deal is done but the club will announce it later on as with the Blackstock deal last year.

Maybe

I fully understand what you're saying BUT if that were the case NO player would sign for anyone until 11.59pm on the last day of the transfer window....and that's not the case is it ?

I personally didn't want Dean Marney here but he's just signed for Burnley. Why didn't his agent tell him to wait and see what further offers may have come in ?

:) Let's hope so. But seeing as the fans need some reassurance and the fact the club are trying to flog season tickets it would make sense to announce any deals as soon as they're done wouldn't it ?

That’s a good point, why does Forest always hold back on announcing players arrivals, I always get the feeling that the people at Forest and to a degree some of the fans tent to think that we are some kind of extra special club and players will come to us because of who we are! We might have history and great history at that , but that’s the point it’s history end of, As soon as Forest get out of that mentality that we are better than everyone else the better, I also think a portion of the fans have to stop deluding them selves as well .

Forest need to sign player’s quality players but lets not fool ourselves, we are no better than most of the clubs in the championship these days, we are in the championship because we are no better than the championship so why would a certain player want to come to us over another championship side. Let’s get real people players like Pratley will always go to the premier club if offered whether it is Wigan, Bolton or Birmingham etc the pull of Nottingham Forest is not that great anymore :nowink::eek:

I hate these discussions. They bring disgusting management talk from people.

I do understand what you mean , but it's not management talk it's just an opinion and why is it disgusting  being a leeds fan is disgustinglol

Real life isn't like FM. The player is entitled to an opinion on where he wants to play and given our well publicised interest he probably has more than two offers on his table. If there's any prospect of playing in the prem (hint hint, blackpool) he will hold out for that.

It will be said more than once in the next 3 months but I'd rather the club went after high quality signings, the kind who are likely to have other options (eg Gunter), than just bought any old crap because they are available (eg Dadi).

As this is Mr D's personal money I also respect his right to spend it where he will and, more importantly, to spend it wisely.

Well from some of the reply's on here it's patently obvious that we will sign absolutely no-one then.
The reasoning seems to be we only want top quality players (yep I agree with that) but we won't get these players as they will have better offers (well we may as well not f***ing bother then had we ?)

Well I don't imagine anyone replying has any kind of executive power at the club, but judging by last summer, yes, we will sign absolutely no one.

Because he is shit and no current PL team would be remotely interested.

These same complaints happen every year at this time. The players are all on holiday and the transfer window isn't open yet.

The transfers happen later in the summer.

We can't force Pratley to sign. We could offer the asking price, Swansea accept, Pratley agrees terms and then still waits to see if any one else comes in.

There are also other complications. We actually signed Dexter Blackstock 2 months before it was announced last summer but as part of the deal QPR wanted to delay the announcement until they had signed a replacement because of the effect on season ticket sales.

David McGoldrick was the first of nine signings last summer, that was announced on June 29.

Hardly cause to panic just yet.

I just skim read it, picked a few quotes out in my head then made a broad and unjustified opinion on the whole topic, to be honest.

I should stop doing that.

But its the quickest way, modern brains are made to have short attention spans and move onto other things quite....
